This new information has revealed another way of fighting titans through protagonist Eren’s titan form. Previously, the company had showcased battle gameplay wherein characters in the game used omni-directional mobility gear to weaken titans by severing their limbs, before going in for the kill by slashing the nape of the neck. The new trailer and screenshots focus on Eren’s ability to shift into titan form, and thus use physical attacks to battle fellow titans and smash through buildings.

The new trailer showcasing Eren’s titan abilities was released at E3.

Attack on Titan is based on the bestselling manga and anime of the same name, and will follow the narrative of the show’s first season. The story follows teenagers Eren, Mikasa, Armin, and friends as they fight against large man-eating monsters called titans who have ravaged their world and brought humanity to the brink of extinction. As the trio joins the Titan-fighting survey corps and delves deeper into the inter-workings of their society, they uncover startling truths about the origins of the titans and the powers behind humanity’s governance that call into question who the biggest threat to humanity’s future really is.

The game will be released on August 30 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and a digital download will be available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and PC via Steam.
