Whelp, Far Cry 6 is officially official. The first trailer for the next game in Ubisoft’s ongoing first-person shooter franchise was shown at Ubisoft Forward on Sunday. One hundred percent cinematic, the trailer (unfortunately) doesn’t show any gameplay. Presumably, that’s set to come at a future Ubisoft Forward presentation.
However, what has been revealed so far coincides with what we know of Far Cry 6 from last week’s PlayStation Store leak, including confirmation that Far Cry 6 will release on February 18, 2021, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
Giancarlo Esposito — who, as expected, absolutely steals the trailer above — is the game’s primary villain, Anton Castillo. Action will yet again take place on an island torn apart by rebellion, and although Ubisoft didn’t specifically mention the game’s map, it did say that some areas will be incredibly expansive.
The cinematic trailer was accompanied by the game’s title trailer as well, which can be seen below.
Far Cry 6 is available for pre-order now. Each edition comes with the expected cornucopia of bonuses, including a steelbook case or a replica of a flamethrower.
- Standard Edition ($59.99)
- Gold Edition ($99.99)
- Ultimate Edition ($119.99)
- Collector’s Edition ($199.99)
More information can be found over on the Ubisoft Store. Those who buy Far Cry 6 on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will be able to play the PS5 or Xbox Series X version of Far Cry 6 for free when they upgrade their consoles.
According to the fine print on the Ubisoft Store page, this will be done by using the original PS4/Xbox One game disc inserted into the PS5 or Xbox Series X.
