Cyberpunk 2077 bounties are a common way to earn a bit of money and street cred. Here's what you need to know about completing bounties and taking on street crimes.

Cyberpunk 2077 bounties help you get you paid and gain respect according to the job you take on. While many of the game’s enemies won’t pay out much in either currency  money and street cred  side jobs and gigs that appear in your Journal or on your map, as well as street crimes, eventually lead to taking down more important crooks with bigger payouts coming when their bounty hunt has been fulfilled.

In Night City, trying to clean up the streets can feel a bit like that GIF of a person raking water back into the ocean, but it does add up. Besides, if the city has long ago gone to hell, you may as well profit off if it, right? Here’s what you need to know about Cyberpunk 2077 bounties.

Cyberpunk 2077 Bounties: How to Accept Them

The nice thing about bounties in Cyberpunk 2077 is you don’t have to opt-in to accepting them. Bounties are always available readily should you bump up against any criminals with a figurative target on their back.

Using Scanner Mode (hold LB/L1), you can learn a person’s name, their strengths and weaknesses in combat, and their criminal record if they have one. If they do, it’s likely they also have a bounty on them.

While common street criminals may only have a bounty level of a few stars out of five and thus only net you a little money and street cred, taking on gigs from the NCPD and other fixers in your phone or on your map can often lead you to much better-paying bounties.

Put it this way, you could go around taking out everybody in Night City with a bounty, but you’d never get to the end of the line. In many cases, bounties seem to be procedurally generated, which is a good way to depict the broken city. But following assigned missions from the cops and fixers that have you collecting bounties will sometimes net you massive rewards in both cash and street cred.

Resolving Street Crimes

One surefire way to find people with bounties on their heads is to head to the street crime missions when they appear on your map.

While missions featuring mini-bosses will appear in your Journal and phone from your fixer Regina Jones, these street crimes seem to pop up as you explore, similar to Spider-Man or Batman Arkham.

You may find the police having a shootout or a band of criminals beating up on houseless folks. There are different ways they unfold, but if you see a blue badge on your map, you can bet the enemies at that location have bounties on their heads.

Sometimes these street crimes will require a bit more work than just clearing out everyone too. For example, after dispatching all enemies in the area, you may need to hack a computer or collect evidence and send it to Regina Jones.

How to Hack

Hacking will sometimes come up in bounty missions in Cyberpunk 2077. To learn more, head over to our complete Hacking guide

How to Send Evidence to Regina Jones

To send evidence to Regina:

  • Open your phone (hold Down on the D-Pad) once you have the evidence
  • Select Regina’s name
  • Find the reply option so you can text message her directly

Street crimes play out in different ways, but they’ll always end with you getting more money from bounties, as well as more street cred, which opens up new missions.

Make sure you also clear the area of dropped items from downed enemies too and you’ll soon find that while many bounties are but pocket change on their own. Criminals like to band together in Night City, so taking them on in droves at a time adds up fast and provides several benefits to the small-timer like V.
