Splatoon 3's Expansion Pass starts off with a trip back to Splatoon 1's hub.

Splatoon 3’s Expansion Pass Includes a Trip Back to Inkopolis

Splatoon 3's Expansion Pass starts off with a trip back to Splatoon 1's hub.

Nintendo showed off an early look at Splatoon 3‘s DLC with the announcement of an Expansion Pass for its hit shooter. The first wave of DLC, which is scheduled for a Spring 2023 launch, will include the hub world from Splatoon 1, Inkopolis. The return of the Squid Sisters is upon us.

As an incentive to pre-order the DLC pass, players that grab it early will be given some extra in-game currency and food/drink tickets. This will help with leveling up in multiplayer to access some of the harder lobbies available in Splatoon 3. It will also get you ready for any extra weapons that might be added with this pack.

At the end of the trailer, an extra campaign called “Side Order” was teased that will deal with the duo Off the Hook post-Splatoon 2. In a cryptic bit of messaging, we see what looks to be Agent 2 and flashes of both Pearl and Marina in a wintery setting. It would be really interesting to see Splatoon ink freeze, though we’re getting ahead of ourselves.

With the first portion releasing in the Spring, it stands to reason that wave two will either be in the Fall or Winter. That adds up with the aforementioned winter setting teased for the second DLC pack. Nintendo previously stated that Splatoon 3’s expansion pass would be similar in scope to Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion, so there is bound to be a ton of content for players to ink through.
