During the stream, the MK 11 team offered players a look at Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and Jax as they will appear in the game. The team also provided a rundown on each of the characters’ abilities.

While the latest reveal isn’t the first players have seen these characters as they will appear in the new fighter,(they were first seen during PlayStation’s State of Play), it is the first time their abilities have been detailed.

Liu Kang was the first character shown in the stream, with the hosts stating his playstyle in Mortal Kombat 11 is very similar to that of his appearances in Mortal Kombat 9 and Mortal Kombat 10. Not only did the team confirm that Kang is still a great character for beginners, but that his nunchucks will be making a return in MK 11

The next character shown was Kung Lao, who, similar to Liu Kang, retains many of his abilities from previous franchise iterations. Like Kang, Kung Lao is incredibly fast. As expected, he uses a lot of chain-punches in addition to kung-fu and his signature bladed hat.

The last character shown was Jax. The development team highlighted his wrestler-like power style. During the playthrough, the development team also noted that out of the three fighters, Jax’s playstyle is the one that differs the most from older incarnations of the character.

For each of the characters, the MK team goes into more detail on the stream, discussing each of their kits and the two variations of each character (because time travel).
