Sneaky Nintendo. Doing things we don’t expect is one of the reasons why I love them so much. Today, a patch went out for Pikmin 3 on the Wii U. This small patch added a new control scheme to the game.
The new option allows players to throw their Pikmin by tapping the screen with their stylus instead of aiming with the control stick. While this isn’t game changing, it may be easier for players to throw their Pikmin in the spot they want.
The inspiration for this option more than likely came from the Pikmin Adventure game in Nintendo Land. The multiplayer game allowed the player with the gamepad to call Pikmin and other players and throw them tapping the touch screen. Perhaps this will make the game a little more user-friendly before it’s handed out for free to Mario Kart 8 buyers.
If you haven’t picked up Pikmin 3 yet, I highly recommend it. Even if you don’t want to spend the money, go pick up Mario Kart 8, and you’ll get a free game from Nintendo when you register MK8 on Club Nintendo.
