Blizzard announced at BlizzCon 2014 three new settings for their MOBA, Heroes of the Storm set to release next year. The battlegrounds include an Egyptian-inspired city, a dark labyrinthine tomb, and a Diablo-themed map.
Sky Temple resembles a cross between ancient Egypt and Zeal from Chrono Trigger. It’s the newest map featured and is currently playable in the BlizzCon demo.
The Tomb of the Spider Queen is an all-interior labyrinthine temple. This map isn’t playable yet but will feature a ton of spiders and creepy creatures.
The final map is based on Diablo, one of the most well-known hack and slash role-playing games put out by Blizzard. The map is still in its early concept phases but the main theme is apparent: the battle between light and dark; heaven and hell.
The closed beta for Heroes of the Storm begins on January 13, 2015. Sign ups are on Blizzard’s official Heroes of the Storm page.
