The Batman: Arkham franchise is one of the most prosperous superhero video game series ever released. The last entry of the series came last summer with Batman: Arkham Knight. Despite releasing the last actual game in the series, Warner Bros. is revisiting it to release the Batman: Return to Arkham remastered collection. It will be available July 29th for $49.99.
Leaks have been frequent, but today Warner Bros. dropped an official trailer for the remastered collection. The collection includes both Arkham Asylum and Akham City, which have been visually upgraded from Unreal Engine 3 to Unreal Engine 4. Along with that, the game will include all of the available DLC with the games.
This raises the question: Is the remastered collection worth the $50 price tag?
Well, yes and no.
For starters, if you haven’t played these two games, they’re the best in the series and are a must. But a lot of gamers who’ve already played the games are hesitant.
For me it came down to the fact, this is going to be the last we see of the Batman: Arkham franchise. Because of this and the high quality of the games, I don’t mind dropping some money on this collectible edition.
But that’s exactly what it is — a collectible. So if you were indifferent to the series, I don’t think a visual upgrade will do anything for you that the original games couldn’t.
Either way, I’m excited to see if Warner Bros. adds anything extra to the collection. For those who will also be purchasing the collection, I’m excited to discuss how awesome the remastered Joker looks with you.
