Indie darling and mega hit Five Nights at Freddy’s is getting a movie deal, and it’s looking to be bear-y promising… Sorry. (Want to learn more about Five Nights at Freddy’s history? Click here!)
Warner Bros. Pictures has gotten the rights to Five Nights at Freddy’s, that super famous horror game created by Scott Cawthon, starring Freddy Fazbear, a loveable animatronics bear with a love of pizza and killing people, hooray!
In the game, players play a security guard tasked with policing Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza overnight. You watch security cameras and manage your power as the haunted halls of the pizzeria come alive with animatronic bodies, which roam the halls trying to kill you. Horribly.
The movie will be produced by Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment (who has produced a ton of titles, including Lego Movie and The Ring), Seth Grahame-Smith, and David Katzenberg – both who also have long lists of movie producing roles. No director has been attached to the project yet, nor has a script been made, so these are early days for the horror game movie.
There is no set release date for the movie yet. But we can hope that it will be sooner rather than later. I mean, come on. A horror movie starring a cast of robot animals, what’s not to love?
