The Draupnir Spear is the third weapon in your arsenal and the new weapon you receive in God of War: Ragnarok. It’s not only a great addition to your collection, but it has exploration uses as well. You’ve likely seen little green valves spraying out jets of air across the Nine Realms, many of which hide pathways to various collectibles. Jam a spear in there and climb on it, and a new area opens. Those glowing yellow cracks in rock faces all over the place? Jam a spear in there and detonate it.
Thankfully, getting your hands on the Darupnir Spear is easy if drawn out. Just know you’ll be backtracking to previous areas if you’re going for 100% completion.
Where is the Draupnir Spear?
You are guaranteed to get the Draupnir Spear during your playthrough of God of War: Ragnarok, as forging it is part of the main quest. You get the Spear as part of the Forging Destiny main story quest, chapter six, specifically.
You’re on the right track when Brok makes a racket about going to see The Lady back in Svartalfheim. You’ll start by making your way out of an alcohol storage facility deep in the mountain, then go to a lift blocked by Nightmare Haunts you’ll need to break. Shatter each nest until you can destroy the one sitting on the lift, then take it further up the mountain.
After solving another geyser puzzle, you’ll travel up further until you reach a calm lake with a large helmet sitting above a jetty. Brok will ask you to follow him beneath the helmet, but the switch is broken.
You’ll now need to collect two pieces of magical metals from the ore deposit across from where Brok is working. If you do a 180 from facing his workstation, you’ll see a large blue rock formation from which you can chop a shard.
Once given, Brok will need a piece of copper, which is situated directly to the right of the blue ore. Chop off a bit of the copper and give it to him, then return to the switch and flip it once repaired.
Now it’s cutscene time. You’ll watch as you and Brock descend into the kelpy water and give the Draupnir ring to the Lady, who then makes the Spear out of it with a little of Kratos’s blood. There are other story beats here, but we’ll save those for you to discover.
When you return to the surface, you’ll have a chance to put the Spear through its paces and learn how it helps with exploration. Whether you continue the story now that a lot of new optional locations are open to looting is up to you, but you have the tools to loot them regardless.
That’s all there is to getting your hands on the Draupnir Spear. Know that you have a lot of game ahead of you after forging it, and you’ll have a whole new skill tree to unlock with the tons of XP you likely have at this point.
