Ghost of Tsushima seemed to have vanished in 2019 before reappearing ever so briefly during the Tokyo Game Show. Now, it’s back in a big way. The long-awaited samurai story launches on June 26 for PlayStation 4.

The news came in a lush new trailer showing off some gameplay and exploring the game’s plot. Ghost of Tsushima draws inspiration from the Mongol invasion of Japan in the late 1200s. As was typically the case with the Mongols, the invasion destroyed the country’s infrastructure and dangerously sapped its resources.

The protagonist in Ghost of Tsushima was raised on the samurai code but struggles to reconcile notions of honor with sitting back and watching his homeland destroyed. So he takes matters into his own hands, becoming a “vengeful spirit,” exacting revenge on his enemies, and doing whatever he must to protect everything he holds dear. Whether it’s the right choice is another matter, though.

It’s all wrapped up in a jaw-droppingly gorgeous presentation. Not only do the environments look stunning, but the facial animations are full of detail and character.

Ghost of Tsushima pre-orders and special editions are available now as well.
