The Rancor is one of the toughest enemies you’ll face in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Found on Koboh, this vicious monstrosity will chew Cal Kestis up and spit him out like Bantha poodoo. Here’s our guide to help you defeat the Rancor in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor — How to Defeat the Rancor Legendary Enemy
The Rancor can be found on the planet of Koboh, in a small cave system called the Sodden Grotto.
The entrance to this area is fairly close to Rambler’s Reach Outpost, a small town that acts as your hub for most of the game. In fact, an NPC near the fast travel point will tell you a rumor regarding miners that have disappeared.
Given that you’ll reach this area early on in the campaign, you might be tempted to delve deeper into the Sodden Grotto.
Here’s what you can expect to find:
- The tunnels are dark and dimly-lit, so you’ll have to hold the block button to shine your Lightsaber. Take note of narrow openings that you can use to pass through.
- There are a few hostile creatures here, as well as some Force Echoes and BD-1 Scans.
- At the end of the cave system, you’ll see a fast travel point. Beyond that is a larger chamber, the Rancor’s Den.
Rancor Attacks
To beat the Rancor, you’ll have to be mindful of its attack patterns. On the default Jedi Knight difficulty, its three attack swings might be slow, but a single hit will be enough to take out half of your HP.
Your opponent also has a ground slam, which will cause an AoE shockwave. Last but not least, its grab attack is extremely deadly. If you’re caught, it will take a bite out of Cal, likely leading to a quick death.
What’s the Reard for Beating the Rancor in Jedi Survivor?
Should you be successful, you’ll acquire the Shatter perk. This increases the damage dealt by your attacks against enemy guard meters, allowing you to break down their defenses. You can learn more about this mechanic in our parry, deflect, and counters combat guide.
To be clear, the Rancor is just one kind of Legendary Enemy/Legendary Beast. Moreover, this isn’t the only time you’ll face a Rancor in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
Much later in the game, you’ll be able to return to Coruscant. If you return to the first area, you’ll remember that it was where you found a Lightsaber cosmetic chest and a door that couldn’t be opened.
Once you have the Lift and Slam power, you’ll be able to open that door. Inside is a Force Tear, a special challenge arena. It just so happens that this one has you facing off against not one but two Rancors.
And that’s how to beat the Rancoe in Jedi Survivor, just one of many activities, challenges, and secrets that you can discover in the game. For more about other mechanics, you can visit our Star Wars Jedi: Survivor guides hub.
