The Nagakiba Katana is the Elden Ring version of the Washing Pole from previous Souls games. Nagakiba is the longest katana in the game by a wide margin, with some of the highest stat requirements and damage on offer. But you’ll need to know a few things about Yura before you can wield it.
There are two main methods to get Nagakiba. The first is to complete Yura, Hunter of Bloody Fingers’s questline, then loot it off his corpse. The second is to head to Altus Plateau, kill a specific NPC, then loot the sword from Yura’s camp in Limgrave. We’ll go over how to do both in this Elden Ring guide.
How to Complete Yura, Hunter of Bloody Fingers Questline
Nagakiba Step 1: Meet Yura at the Seaside Ruins
Your first order of business toward Yura and the Nagakiba should be to grab the Seaside Ruins Site of Grace just southeast of the First Step, south of Agheel Lake. Yura will warn you against fighting Agheel.
If you go to Altus and defeat Eleanora too soon, Yura’s questline will fail, but you can still pick up the Nagakiba from the Seaside Ruins camp. It will be in the pot where Yura stood on the camp’s southern side, near the fire.
Nagakiba Step 2: Kill Agheel and Report Back to Yura
No one ever listened to a man in a metal hat, so kill the dragon Agheel anyway. Return to Yura, who will congratulate you on your victory, then warn you about Dragon Communion. Too bad the dragon spells are way too good in Elden Ring. Go pick it up anyway to advance closer to Nagakiba.
Nagakiba Step 3: Defeat Bloody Finger Nerijus
Head to the long riverbed to the north of Agheel Lake and face off against Bloody Finger Nerijus with Yura’s help. You’ll obtain the Reduvia dagger for your victory. Continue north from the invasion zone.
Yura will be under a rocky overhang and commend you for your victory over Nerijus.
Nagakiba Step 4: Touch Yura’s Red Summon Sign South of the Raya Lucaria Main Gate
After you’ve collected the Academy Glintstone Key and reached the Main Academy Gate Site of Grace, go through the seal leading to the northward bridge.
Don’t activate the seal when prompted. Instead, just walk through the symbol north, toward the golden tree in the distance. You’ll see Yura’s red summon sign on the ground.
Activate it and help him defeat Bloody Finger Ravenmount Assasin. Doing so will reward the Raptor of the Mists Ash of War.
Yura will be standing nearby where you spawn. Speak to him again.
Nagakiba Step 5: Head to the Second Church of Marika in Altus Plateau
Whether you take the Lift of Dectus or make your way past Makar, Magma Wyrm, your next and final destination is the Second Church of Marika in the Altus Plateau. It’s on a hill to the north of both Makar and the Lift of Dectus.
Inside you’ll see a dying Yura. Listen to his dialog until he dies. Take the Nagakiba from his body. Eleanora, Violet Bloody Finger will invade shortly after. Defeating her rewards Eleanora’s Poleblade and the Purifying Crystal Tear for use against Mohg, Lord of Blood.
With these steps done, you’ll have completed Yura’s Questline and got your hands on the Nagakiba katana. It’s not on our best weapons list, but it’s a great one. Pair it with the Moonveil to make any Intelligence or battle mage build complete. For more on Elden Ring, check out our guides hub.
