I’ll be the first to admit it. I’m a wimp. Ghosts are scary. Bathroom scenes (and there’s always a bathroom scene) in horror movies freak me. I have a recurring nightmare of a woman lying dead in a tub of blood that causes no end of ick factor.

However, giant pool full of blood and body parts? Somehow doesn’t twig me. Consistency, thou art a jewel.

So maybe that makes me the best sort of candidate for Capcom’s latest publicity stunt for Resident Evil: Revelations. According to MCV, Capcom has opened a blood-filled swimming pool near London’s Olympic Stadium to mark the latest RE’s launch.

The pool, 16x32ft and over 1 meter deep holds about 55,000 gallons of blood-colored water (yes, not real blood… my pet vampires were very disappointed too)–the equivalent to the blood of 11,327 people. But not just blood. Amputated limbs and human organs serve as lane markers, while zombies patrol the pool serving as lifeguards. Nasty floaters like blood clots, bloody bandages, and people bits are just part and parcel of the fun, and there will also be a ‘freshly killed human corpse’ diving board.

I have no idea if you’ll actually be able to dive off of it. That sounds slippery. And maybe a little squishy. (Edit: I thought that one through. 1 meter deep. Yeah, you’re not diving off anything.)

And for those actually brave enough to venture down into that mess, the bottom of the pool is covered in collectible merchandise that are free to keep. Towels will be provided, but you might have to wring the blood out of those too first. Goggles will be provided for loan.

“To non-zombies, the swimming pool will be shocking, gory and an incredibly disturbing experience — the perfect way to show that survival horror is back with a bang for Resident Evil: Revelations,” said Capcom’s UK PR Manager, Adam Merrett.

Actually, it just sounds like Capcom. Last year, the company opened the world’s first human butchery in London’s Smithfield meat market to mark the launch of Resident Evil 6. (And look how that game turned out.)

The blood pool will be open from May 25-26. Free tickets will be available here starting Monday May 20th, but be warned that only 100 tickets per day are being offered.

Resident Evil: Revelations is due to launch on May 24 on PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and the Wii U.
