If you didn’t know about it already, RuneScape dev JAGEX released Chronicle: RuneScape Legends on Steam this week. Since the release of Blizzard Entertainment’s Hearthstone, many other developers have jumped on the card game bandwagon — but Chronicle: RuneScape Legends promises a different kind of CCG.

Most players will already be familiar with the general card game gameplay. You select your cards, build your deck and battle with your opponent in the hope that you’ll win. But this is where the similarities end. In Chronicle, you play as one of the Legends, notable figures from the RuneScape universe, and are undertaking a journey. You cast your cards which denote how your journey forms and who you will have to battle, but you can also leave your cards behind and fight some of the battles as yourself.

The game has lots of fascinating features which make it a unique card gaming experience. There is an RPG style leveling system, character customization, and you earn ranks and badges as you go. The game takes place in a 3D landscape showing areas of the realm of Gielinor. There is also no random number generation. Each turn requires more skill than luck.

Chronicle: RuneScape Legends is available to download on Steam now, is free-to-play and is only available for Windows PC.
