Remnant 2: How to Open the Locked Door in Vault of the Formless

At some point in your Remnant 2 playthrough, you’ll visit the dead world of N’Erud, a mechanical wasteland filled with ancient machines and the ruins of a civilization long past. One of the optional dungeons there has a sealed hatch at the end with a strange symbol, and there’s no obvious way to get through it. Here’s how to open the locked door in Vault of the Formless.

How to Open the Locked Door in Vault of the Formless in Remnant 2

To open the locked door in Vault of the Formless, you’ll need to get the House Lythla Glyph key. Remnant 2‘s world maps are all randomized, so you might see N’Erud later in your playthrough than I did. Thankfully, it seems like the dungeons are relatively static, so the layout will be roughly the same.

The second section of Vault of the Formless (which I call the gauntlet), with the giant mechanical fingers and the moving walkways, is always the same. You’ll find the locked door at the end after defeating the final waves of enemies and going through the giant blast door at the dungeon’s end.

Note: If you’re stuck at the end of the gauntlet section and can’t get past the door with the red lights and control pad to the right, you’ll need to wait for more enemies to spawn. In a colleague’s game, this was an elite that appeared more than a minute after the last enemy. Also, be sure to check the edge of the area for flying enemies that may be below your platform.

How to Get the House Lythla Glyph Key

To unlock the door with the strange symbol, you need a key that can only be found in the gauntlet section, but before you reach the dropdown at the end. The path to it is in the second rotating pathway.

When you reach the second rotating cylinder, don’t proceed onward. Instead, wait inside the hallway for the giant fingers to turn it again. Once it’s rotated, you’ll see another hallway leading back into the main part of the map. Just on your left will be a small room with the key you need: the House Lythla Glyph.

After picking up the Glyph, you can follow the hallway back to the main section, and you’ll come across the back side of another secured door. Take the Glyph all the way to the end of the Vault of the Formless, and you’ll be able to use it on the locked door. Your character will still pound on it at first, but afterward, you’ll be able to use the Glyph.

Rupture Cannon Sidearm

Inside the room, in a coffin on the left side, is the Rupture Cannon sidearm, an alien shotgun pistol with 12 rounds in the magazine.

I tried the Rupture Cannon out in a Level 11 world, and even without upgrading it, it hit like a truck. It has no inherent unique mods, so you can give it anything that might help your current build. You can probably make a pure shotgun build with the Cannon and a solid primary.

Whether you hunt for the key to unlock the Vault of the Formless door during your first run or once you’ve cleared the gauntlet is up to you. Personally, I’d prefer to do it as you play because the path to the key is relatively free of enemies, and not having to run through the whole thing again is preferable.
