Destiny 2 Season of the Witch: How to Gain Insight

Insight is probably the most valuable currency in Destiny 2‘s Season of the Witch, as it enables much of the core aspects of the new activities, gear, fashion, and gameplay. Without Insight, you can’t unlock Opaque Cards to get more Arcana, which means you can’t get the buffs they provide in the Spire of Savathun and Altars of Summoning. If you can’t do Altars and Spire quickly, you can’t farm for seasonal gear as efficiently. The list goes on. So, how do you get Insight in Destiny 2? It’s complicated.

How to Get Insight in Destiny 2: Season of the Witch

Insight in Destiny 2: Season of the Witch doesn’t actually take up any inventory space. Instead, you unlock the ability to gain Insight via completing Opaque Card quests. Viewing the quest card in your Quests tab will tell you what you need to do to gain Insight. The Blades quest, for instance, asks you to defeat enemies with Swords, Glaive melee attacks, or melee abilities. You need 25 Insight to complete the Blades, but other card quests will have different requirements.

Farming Insight, once you have a quest or quests, is a matter of time. Using the Blades as an example, I was playing a Titan, so I went with a classic and OP Solar Titan Throwing Hammer build and added a Glaive and Sword as backup. In my testing, I found that there’s probably about a 20% chance for every suitable kill to award a single unit of Insight.

How to Farm Insight in Destiny 2

No matter which class you play, the same rules will apply. If your Card quest requires a certain weapon type or activity, you can only earn Insight from those sources. I also recommend building a loadout around specific requirements, so you always have the best chance of getting Insight.

Note, however, that you can hold multiple Opaque card quests at a time, and some of these have different activity requirements. Blades has you playing the new seasonal activities, Spire of Savathun and Altars of Summoning. Another, The Harbinger, has you going to the Moon, defeating Nightmares, and completing waves of Altars of Sorrow. In this case, doing one quest will not progress the other, meaning you’ll need to grind for Insight two separate times. That may be different for different cards.

Lastly, if you’re looking for the quickest, easiest possible Insight farm, I suggest gathering a fireteam and doing Feeble Offering versions of Altars of Summoning. The enemies will be weak easy to kill, and the only hard limit on how many Altars you can complete is how many Offerings you have and how much time you’re willing to spend. More than that, just follow the directions on all the Opaque Cards you get and be smart about which loadouts you bring into required activities.
