Baldur’s Gate 3: Should You Enter the Astral Prism

When confronted by Vlaakith, should you follow her command and enter the Astral Prism in Baldur's Gate 3?

In the midst of the “Githyanki Creche” questline, you learn that the artifact Shadowheart has is called an Astral Prism. Not only that, but you’re being told that it contains an entity that you need to kill by entering the prism yourself. So, should you enter the Astral Prism in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Should You Enter the Astral Prism in Baldur’s Gate 3?

The entity in the Astral Prism gives you more story content, but the end result of your choice is the same.

Yes, you should enter the Astral Prism in Baldur’s Gate 3. There’s nothing to lose by entering it, and you’ll instead gain approval and information. Since the end result of either option is the same, you might as well earn approval from Lae’zel (if she’s in your party) by entering the prism. Additionally, you can speak with the being inside and choose not to kill them (which is what you were ordered to do).

What Happens If You Don’t Enter the Astral Prism in BG3?

If you choose to not enter the Astral Prism, you’ll head right into the fight with the Inquisitor. Depending on your approval rating with Lae’zel, she might leave your party at this point and fight with the Githyanki against you, which is another reason that it doesn’t hurt to enter the prism and get some extra brownie points with her just in case you’re at risk of losing her as a companion.

Hopefully that answers whether you should enter the Astral Prism in Baldur’s Gate 3. The extra lore and playtime are well-worth it. After your battle with the Inquisitor, head to our BG3 guide hub for more topics like should you help The Emperor or how to get improved Illithid powers.
