EA has been having a rough year with the disappointing SimCity launch, Origin issues, and more recently the failed Battlefield 4 launch. The only thing saving DICE and EA these days is the promise of a new and improved game–hopefully soon!
DICE is putting Battlefield 4 players first!
DICE announced today that they will be putting a halt on all projects and DLCs until the current issues of Battlefield 4 are fixes, across all consoles. In a statement released to IGN, DICE confirmed that their primary focus is to fix Battlefield 4 before moving onto other projects such as the well anticipated Star Wars Battlefront 3 and Mirror’s Edge 2.
“[DICE is] not moving onto future projects or expansions until we sort out all the issues with Battlefield 4. We know we still have a ways to go with fixing the game – it is absolutely our #1 priority. The team at DICE is working non-stop to update the game.”
With recent releases of not so successful patches, like the one for PlayStation 4, one has to wonder what will come of any other updates in the future. I am not too optimistic about how many problems DICE can fix in a short time, however, I’m sure if they take another couple of months they will get it right. Like me, many players are frustrated with the handling of the game and I will give DICE credit for acknowledging their mistakes in regards to Battlefield 4’s release.
“We know many of our players are frustrated, and we feel your pain. We will not stop until this is right.”
I am excited to see what DICE will do for Battlefield 4 players. But unfortunately it does mean a halt on some games I was really excited about–Mirror’s Edge 2! What do you think about DICE’s statement? Do you think the game is even worth saving at this point? Should they put a hold on other great games just to fix this one, which some would say is broken?
