Enjoy that delicious Starbound music, but didn’t buy the game off of the website or buy the soundtrack on Steam? Spotify has added the soundtrack to its library, and the service is free to standard users.
[Update: The Starbound soundtrack seems to have disappeared from the Spotify library, much to my personal disappointment. I will update this should it return!]
The Starbound soundtrack found on Spotify packs a 4 hour and 15 minute punch into 44 total tracks, most (but not all) of which avid players have already heard in-game. Free Spotify users can listen to this music via the service’s client, with occasional advertisement breaks between tracks. You can sign up and download the client on the official Spotify website.
What is most notable here is how quickly the game’s soundtrack made its way to a big service like Spotify, despite being an indie title that is still in beta.
One may read into this as a testament to just how popular Starbound has become in such a short period despite being by and large incomplete. It is still reigning as the top-selling game on Steam, and its average concurrent player numbers are slowly growing per day.
Being an avid fan, it’s exciting to see how the game is building so much momentum at this early point in its lifespan. With gamers and companies alike taking notice of Starbound, the future looks very bright for the game that seemed to some just to be a pipe dream a few months ago.
