Zenimax Online Entertainment has set a release date for their upcoming MMO, Elder Scrolls Online. For PC and Mac, gamers will be able to begin play on April 4, 2014. Xbox One and PlayStation 4 users will have to wait a couple of more months for a release date some time during June of 2014. An exact date for the console release has yet to be announced.
The announcement came through the Elder Scrolls Online website, and was accompanied by a statement from the Game Director, Matt Firor, about launch plans. Firor makes claims in his statement that major systems for the game have been finished and that the company will be spending the next few months prior to release fixing bugs from gameplay testers as well as polishing up the game.
Matt Firor explained the reasoning behind the separate launch dates of computer versus consoles in his statement: with Zenimax anticipating high subscriber numbers at launch, they are launch the platforms at different times to ensure a smooth launch experience and not overload systems with a sudden influx of computer and console users.
Zenimax also released the new trailer seen above, War in Cyrodiil, with their launch announcement. Will you be joining the ranks in Tamriel in Elder Scrolls Online in 2014?
