You’re only ever as cool as the ride you have in GTA 5 Online. Be it high-end luxury cars, race-ready speed demons, or virtually everything in between, GTA Online boasts plenty of options when it comes to vehicles. And yes, that includes flying cars. As implied in the name, these vehicles aren’t restricted to the roads in Los Santos and offer players the ability to soar through the air at their leisure. And if you were thinking of buying one of these versatile vehicles, here’s a list of the best flying vehicles in GTA 5 Online.
The Best Flying Cars in GTA 5 Online
While there are many vehicles in GTA Online that are capable of flight, this list is restricted to those that are based on — or at least resemble — actual cars. In total, there are only four cars that fit this list. Vehicles such as the Mk. II won’t be found here (sorry!). With that in mind, here are the best flying cars in the game.
Vigilante
Based heavily on the Batmobile from the Batman films and comics, the Vigilante is sure to turn some heads when cruising down the road. Oh, and it can also fly should you take it off of a steep surface at a great enough speed.
Outside of its aerial abilities, eye-catching design, and matte black finish, the Batmobile-inspired Vigilante also comes equipped with serious weaponry, such as front-facing machine guns and homing missiles. Furthermore, it’s a dream in terms of performance. The Vigilante can achieve speeds near 150 MPH when driven in tandem with the rockets. It can surpass that with boosts. Be it on the ground or through the skies, the Vigilante will be a menace to anyone looking for the smoke in Los Santos. The Vigilante retails for $3,750,000 in-game.
Ruiner 2000
You can literally hear the Knight Rider theme music just looking at this thing. Based on KITT from the aforementioned classic TV show, the Ruiner 2000 stands out as one of the cooler cars you can get in GTA Online. It performs decently well as a standard muscle car. But the Ruiner 2000 also has the ability to hop into the air and deploy a parachute from high elevations.
Like the Vigilante, it also comes equipped with weapons. You’ll have access to machine guns and missiles. So it works quite well not only as a stylistic call back to a great action show but as a pure death machine, as well. The Ruiner 2000 retails for $5,745,600, making it the most expensive flying car you’ll see on this list.
Scramjet
Next up is none other than Mach 5 itself from the popular Speed Racer franchise. Known in GTA Online as the Scramjet, the vehicle utilizes a similar jumping system as the previously mentioned Ruiner 2000 that propels it vertically. Unlike the Ruiner, however, the Scramjet will actually fly after initiating a jump should the player use its rocket boosters. As typical with this class of vehicle, the Scramjet is also fitted with front-facing machine guns and homing missile launchers. If you’re a massive fan of Speed Racer, then buying this Mach 5-inspired car is a must. It retails for $3,480,000.
Deluxo
No list of flying cars is complete without the infamous DMC DeLorean seen in the 1985 classic Back to the Future. In GTA Online, the DeLorean is known as the aptly named Deluxo. Like its movie counterpart, the Deluxo in GTA Online is capable of normal driving, soaring through the air, and even slightly hovering about the ground and even above water.
In the iconic words of Dr. Emmett Brown: “Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads.” However, unlike the time-traveling DeLorean we’ve all come to love, the Deluxo is fitted with the machine guns and homing missiles seen on its contemporaries within the contained GTA Online universe. If you wish to own the Deluxo, it’ll cost you $4,721,500 in-game.
