The Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Teal Mask DLC introduced a whole bunch of Pokemon that you couldn’t find in the base game. The Land of Kitakami has them from every generation for you to catch and add to your team. But did you know that you can also get one of the Sinnoh starters? I sure didn’t at first. In this guide, we’ll go over how to get the Sinnoh starters in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Teal Mask DLC.
How to Get the Sinnoh Starters in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC
Talk to Professor Jacq
You’ll be able to get one of the Sinnoh starts as soon as you start the Teal Mask DLC story. After you enter Mossui Town, head to the right across the bridge. You can talk to Professor Jacq under one of the trees. He’ll tell you that he’s studying Pokemon in the Land of Kitakami and that a Pokemon egg can appear if you have a picnic with your Pokemon. After the conversation, he’ll give you a Pokemon Egg.
Hatch the Pokemon Egg
The next thing you’ll need to do is hatch the Pokemon egg. You’ll need to have the egg in your party to do this. Pokemon eggs will hatch after a certain number of steps are taken, and it’s different for every Pokemon.
To speed up this process, you can have a Pokemon with the Flame Body ability, which reduces the number of steps it takes to hatch an egg. You can find the Pokemon Slugma, which has the Flame Body ability, on Oni Mountain. They’re all over the place, so this shouldn’t be hard. Once you have Slugma in your party, hop on Koraidon or Miraidon and run around for a bit.
Finding the Sinnoh Starters
After running around for a little bit — and it shouldn’t take long at all — your egg will hatch. Once that happens, you’ll get one of the Sinnoh starters: Turtwig, Piplup, or Chimchar. I got Chimchar, for what it’s worth. Since you’ll randomly get one of the starters, you’ll have to trade with other players to get all three, though they aren’t required to finish the Kitakami Pokedex. When the Sinnoh starters pop out of their eggs, they’ll be Level 25.
That’s how to get the Sinnoh starters in The Teal Mask DLC for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Just make sure to talk to Professor Jacq, have a Pokemon with the Flame Body Ability, and trade with other players to get the other two starters you didn’t get.
