What if You Don’t Own Shang Tsung?

Unfortunately, you need to use Shang Tsung for the Another Test Subject klue, and specifically end the match with his second fatality. There are no alternative solutions for completing the objective. If you don’t have him unlocked, you’ll never get to solve this and access the rewards.

The good news is that none of the rewards are too outrageous. Three legendary talismans are pretty nice but might not mean much to players trying to grind through the mode fast. Aside from some legendary glasses for Johnny Cage, the only other notable item is a palette for Shao Khan. That latter palette can be bought from the Seasonal Items store, though. Unless you want to unlock every item or want to kustomize your MK1 characters for cheap, this exclusive challenge can be okay to skip.

How to Unlock Shang Tsung

Shang Tsung is a premium character that was initially offered as a pre-order bonus for any edition of Mortal Kombat 1, but can now be purchased from your platform’s respective store. As a separate DLC, he costs $7.99.
