Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Get the Orphic Hammer

Depending on the ending you want, the Orphic Hammer might be necessary for you to grab. Unfortunately, it’s kept in a barrier, and you can’t use force to open it or lockpicks to steal it. This guide runs you through how to get the Orphic Hammer in Baldur’s Gate 3.

How to Get the Orphic Hammer in Baldur’s Gate 3

Taking the Orphic Hammer makes everybody in the House of Hope hostile toward you. It also means that Raphael will fight you at the portal to leave in an attempt to prevent you from taking his possession.

Start at the Archives in the House of Hope

First, you need to get into the House of Hope by solving the Helsik Ritual Puzzle. Upon arrival, Hope greets you as an apparition. She gives you debtor clothes that help you blend in so nobody in the house attacks you. Then, you’ll need to head to the Archives.

Visit the Boudoir

Speak with the Archivist and express interest in the Orphic Hammer. He won’t give you access to the hammer, but he’ll give you an invitation for the Boudoir. This means your next step is heading to the Boudoir and using that invitation, taking you to meet Haarlep. Haarlep is on the far side of the Boudoir and looks exactly like Raphael.

How to Get the Magical Password

At this point, you can either make a deal with Haarlep by playing his game and basically sleep with him, or you can explore the Boudoir for clues on your own. To the left of the bed, there’s a button that unlocks a safe. This is what Haarlep tells you about if you take his deal. Read the papers in the safe, and you’ll receive the password needed for the hammer.

Take the Orphic Hammer

Return to the Archives and interact with the Orphic Hammer. Choose the option to say the magic words and claim the hammer. Once you pick it up, your debtor clothes vanish, so the NPCs in the house become hostile towards you. From here, you can either head to the exit and fight Raphael, or you can go to the prison and free Hope first.
