inFamous: Second Son Trailer Puts a Big Emphasis on “Next-Gen”

The latest inFamous: Second Son trailer will make you drool...
This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

Ever since the new consoles launched, gamers have argued about the term “next-gen.” What does it mean, really? Well, for many, it means a game that absolutely positively couldn’t be done on the PS3 or Xbox 360.

Maybe Sucker Punch’s inFamous: Second Son is a perfect example of that.

The new trailer that just arrived highlights the game’s “next-gen” quality, as the footage is clearly a step above when compared to “old” technology. As a quick tangent, I find it amazing how the PS3 and 360 are now considered “outdated technology,” mere months after the new systems showed up. Just gives you an idea of how fast things move in this industry.

Anyway, multiple sources, such as IGN and Destructoid, have praise for Second Son in this video, and that praise is well-deserved. Protagonist Delsin instills fear in those who identify him as a “bioterrorist,” but at the same time, he might be their savior… The developer has said several times that choice will once again be a major element, so are you gonna be bad or good? It’s just so hard to be good all the time, you know?

It’s still too bad we couldn’t get this for the PS4 launch

The PlayStation 4 launch lineup was underwhelming, but the new inFamous would’ve given it a huge boost. We really needed another high-profile exclusive; Killzone: Shadow Fall was a great shooter but it didn’t quite live up to expectations. On top of that, with the delay of Watch Dogs and Driveclub, the launch lineups were all the more anemic.

Oh well. March 21 isn’t far off now!
