Grand Theft Auto V has been rereleased multiple times since its initial release in 2013. You can now play GTA 5 on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The online mode is what has made the game stay relevant for almost 10 years. You might want to play with your friends but it has been released on so many consoles in its lifetime, you might have one question: Does GTA 5 Online have crossplay in 2023?

So after 10 years, can you pull off heists or other criminally fun antics with your friends who are playing on different systems? The short answer is no. GTA 5 Online doesn’t have crossplay compatibility. If your friends are playing on a different system, you won’t be able to play together. However, you can play together if they have a previous gen system than you or vice versa. 

Can PS5 and PS4 Play GTA 5 Online Together?

Technically yes you can. However to do this you’ll both need to have the PS4 version of the game. Since the PS5 is backwards compatible, you can play the same version as someone who only has the PS4 version. If you only have the PS5 version, you can’t play with someone who has the PS4 version. 

Can Xbox Series X and Xbox One X Play GTA 5 Online Together?

This is the same answer as with the PlayStation. You’ll both need to have the Xbox One  version of the game. Since the Xbox Series X is backwards compatible, you can play the same version as someone who only has the Xbox One version.
