Since Borderlands 3 is a first-person shooter game, emoting can provide an opportunity to see your character and any unique visual modifications you’ve made to them. They’re also useful tools for coordination when you’re in a co-op session online. This is why we wanted to show you how to emote in Borderlands 3 and how to get new emotes as well.
How to Emote in Borderlands 3
Emoting in Borderlands 3 is as simple as holding a button to bring up the emote wheel, from which you can choose the emote you want to use. You can go with the generic “Thumbs Up” or something a bit spicier. Here’s how to emote on your PC and consoles:
- On a PC: The default emote key is “Z” and you can simply tap it to open the emote wheel.
- On Xbox: Hold down the Menu button to open the emote wheel. Note that just pressing it’ll open the actual pause menu instead. Then choose the one you want with your thumb-stick and press A to confirm.
- On PlayStation: Hold down the Options button instead of pressing it the same as on Xbox and the emote menu will appear. Navigate to the one you want with the thumb-stick and press X to confirm.
Emoting will usually switch to a momentary third-person mode so you can get a good look at your character cosmetics. You can also get new emotes and switch them out. Let us show you how.
How to Buy Emotes and Change Them in Borderlands 3
Each character starts with the default four emotes and you can buy more. Head over to Crazy Earl’s shop in the hanger of Sanctuary. Among many exotic Eridium-bought goodies, he’ll also sell you unique emotes for your chosen character.
Now all you need is a Quick Change station to swap out your new emotes. Head to any single one and open the Emote menu. You can change them up as you like and arrange them to any spot on the wheel. Confirm your choice and then any time you open your emote wheel again your new ones will be in the slots you selected.
You’re now ready to channel your inner Monty Python French taunter so emote at your enemies and liken their mothers to hamsters. We hope this guide on how to emote in Borderlands 3 has been useful and feel free to share it with your friends in online co-op.
