Can You Go to Zuzu City? Stardew Valley 1.6 Might Finally Take Us There Without Mods

Have you been wanting to go to Zuzu City? You may be able to in the 1.6 Stardew Valley update.

ConcernedApe, creator of Stardew Valley, has teased us all with a sneak peek of what’s to come in the new 1.6 update, and a brand-new ticket caught my eye. Could this finally be the ticket to access the infamous Zuzu City in the Stardew Valley 1.6 update?

Can You Access Zuzu City in Stardew Valley 1.6?

What is Zuzu City?

Zuzu City is the main city outside of the titular Stardew Valley. It’s been mentioned when characters make billboard requests or under descriptions of specific items you’ve collected. The Radioactive Bar, in particular, is “Known by the Zuzu City Safety Commission.” You may have also noticed NPCs visiting during the Stardew Valley Fair who reside in Zuzu City.

What We Know About Zuzu City

Despite there being a mod for Zuzu City (which we’ll get to later), there isn’t much information on Zuzu City in the vanilla game. If you have eight hearts with Sam, you can visit Zuzu City by attending his concert. You can also see the view of Zuzu City with Sebastian’s ten-heart event. Could these teasers imply that we’ll get to visit Zuzu City in the future?

While ConcernedApe doesn’t usually include easter eggs to hint at new areas, this new ticket might be a train ticket to Zuzu City. The train station, located North of the Valley, doesn’t have many uses. So it would make sense that you’d be able to board a train there for Zuzu City.

Downtown Zuzu

As mentioned, Downtown Zuzu is a mod for Stardew Valley, that allows you to access Zuzu City. You’re able to do many things, such as accessing the Joja Supermarket, even after it’s been closed down in the vanilla game. There are also many new areas in Downtown Zuzu, such as the Pink Bakery, where you can buy many nice treats. Additionally, this mod lets you buy your own apartment.

What to Expect From Zuzu City

Given that the mod has unlocked more gameplay, if ConcernedApe did create Zuzu City, it would be nice if he incorporated new interactive areas. Considering previous mentions in the vanilla game, this is what I’d expect in Zuzu City:

  • Special fruit and vegetables that can only be bought in Zuzu City, similar to Calico Desert and Ginger Island.
  • New NPCs, as we have briefly seen Zuzu City inhabitants visit for festivals.
  • Different concerts, similar to the movie theater.

Other Possibilities

It’s important to mention that we may never have access to Zuzu City, and it’s meant to be seen as an elusive place. The main character’s origins are not spoken about, but it’s heavily implied that they worked for Joja, located in Zuzu City. This could suggest that it’s a place we’ve left in the past. This is also speculated through Sebastian’s ten-heart event, where he states he no longer desires the city, hinting at the end of a chapter.

So what could the ticket be? It may have a similar use to the movie theater ticket but for a different type of event. For travel tickets, such as the bus, we don’t normally show a physical ticket. Perhaps it could also be a new type of currency; as ConcernedApe stated, there will be a new type of reward for completing billboard requests.

So, 1.6 might finally take us to Zuzu City in Stardew Valley, or the ticket could be something completely different! I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. If you want similar content, check out our other SDV guides.
