As everyone knows by now Titanfall is not coming to the PlayStation 4. Well, not yet, anyway.
Considering that developer Respawn Entertainment is an independent studio, they can produce their game for any platform they choose. Perhaps they signed an exclusivity deal with Microsoft, but what if it’s only for a year? SCEE Brand Manager Alex Moyet made the distinct implication that in due time, Titanfall will arrive on Sony’s new console.
She made the following comment on Twitter; it has since been removed, but Gamepur caught it before it disappeared:
“Nah we might have to wait another year or so but I’ve got a good feeling it’ll come to PS4.”
This is a common theory among gamers, but to hear it come from a high-ranking Sony boss is significant. As for Respawn, it’s not really surprising that they’re siding with Microsoft. Former Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella founded the new team, and IW was responsible for the super huge Call of Duty: Modern Warfare games. CoD is bigger on the Xbox platform in this country, which is why all DLC still debuts first on Xbox.
It wouldn’t be the first time a new series came to Xbox first and later arrived on PlayStation. BioWare’s Mass Effect comes readily to mind. The question is whether or not PS4 owners really want Titanfall… sure they do, right?
