How to Play Fortnite in Split-Screen Mode in Fortnite

Dropping in with friends has never been easier with split-screen mode in Fortnite. You can use the feature on both the PlayStation and Xbox, as long as you’ve got an extra controller lying around. While playing online is oftentimes the ideal way to play, I recommend trying out this feature the next time you’ve got a chance. Here’s what you need to do.

  • Start up Fortnite.
  • Head to the Main Menu in the game.
  • Connect the second controller to your console.
  • Login to the second player’s Epic account.
  • Have Player 2 join your lobby.
    • Triangle on PlayStation.
    • Y on Xbox.
  • You can now enjoy split-screen Duos or Squads mode.

Both players will remain independent while enjoying split-screen mode. So, each player’s inventory will be their own, and they can travel as far as they’d like from the other player on the map. However, Player one will act as the host of your lobby, so you’ll need to ensure that they remain connected for the duration of your gaming session.

Currently, split-screen is only available for PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Whether or not Epic decides to add the feature to the Nintendo Switch or PC is a mystery. But we’ll let you know if there are any changes.
