With next generation consoles releasing, we are soon to see many new games to release. We aren't even scratching the surface of next gen. Whether these games succeed or tank is to be seen at a later date. This is a list of ten of the most talked about/anticipated games of 2014-2015.
We begin our list with Alien: Isolation, created by Creative Assembly and produced by SEGA. After many believed Alien: Colonial Marines to be a complete failure, Creative Assembly has been working to make that bad memory fade with this first-person survival horror.
It has been getting a bunch of exposure and has been building a lot of anticipation within the community. Could this game save the Alien franchise in the gaming industry from the Colonial Marines flop? We'll find out October 7th when Isolation drops for next gen Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It will also release for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as well as PC.
Our second title to enter this list is first-person zombie survival game, Dying Light. Dying Light is being created by Techland, the studio behind the Dead Island series. Shown in the video is 21 minutes of gameplay, featuring the game's free-run/parkour mechanic with seamless combat.
The game reportedly suffered a delay while it was first shown on WB's website with a release date of March 31st, but has now been delayed with no official release date revealed. The game is said to release some time this year for both current and next gen platforms, as well as PC.
The Order: 1886 is an upcoming action-adventure game set in an alternative London where an elder order protects the world from hybrid monsters. You heard that correctly, monsters. While the humans and these half-breeds fight for centuries, the humans finally find hope in King Arthur and the round table... hmm, that sounds rather familiar, doesn't it? Arthur soon realizes they are in a losing battle and then the Industrial revolution hits winning the war for the Humans.
Centuries later in 1886, however, a new threat rises as the order goes up against a lower class who rebel against the rich upper class. The game is being developed by Ready At Dawn. The Order: 1886 releases Q4 of this year as a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is an action role-playing game set in The Lord Of The Rings universe developed by Monolith Productions. You assume the role of Talion, a ranger who was captured by Sauron and his men. Sauron then made Talion watch as he killed his wife and son before killing him. You are then brought back with Wraith abilities, and well...the gameplay shows more. Shadow Of Mordor is told between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings trilogy.
Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor releases October 7th, 2014 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
Watch_Dogs has been one of the most anticipated games for Next Gen since it was revealed last year. We have covered so much of Watch_Dogs, I feel like anything I say would just be rehashing what we already know. With that said, I will leave you with gameplay of a side mission within the game where you take a drug for a "Digital trip." In this particular trip, you black out and wake up in control of a Spider mech--yes that is right... a gigantic Arachnid mech. The point of the mini game is to destroy as much as you can in the allotted time limit.
Watch_Dogs releases everywhere May 27th, 2014 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
Tom Clancy's The Division battles through firefights for its spot on this top list. The Division is an upcoming third-person tactical MMO shooter is set in New York. The game is inspired from real-life events, "Operation Dark Winter" and "Directive 51". The game depicts a disease occurring on Black Friday in the United States and causes the entire country to collapse within five days.
You are a part of the group, "Strategic Homeland Division" with the goal to stop the threat and save the remains by any means necessary. The Division is said to release in the fall of 2014 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
The Elder Scrolls Online has already released for PC, but is one of the most anticipated games for current generation consoles. While it is the most anticipated, a lot of people are not happy with the game being subscription based.
PC users are also getting tired of the fact that you also have to pay $20 extra just to have the last class (Imperial) and have a complete set of classes for the game. The Elder Scrolls Online releases for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 30th, 2014.
Batman: Arkham Knight is the explosive finale into the Arkham series created by Rocksteady. Arkham Knight adds the feature of being able to drive the Batmobile at will throughout the city of Gotham.
Rocksteady has stated that Gotham in Arkham Knight is five times bigger than that of Arkham City. The Dark Knight returns October 14th, 2014 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Enjoy the first trailer for Batman: Arkham Knight featured above.
PlayStation exclusive UNCHARTED is coming back for the PlayStation 4. Lead writer for the series, Amy Hennig, left Naughty Dog to work with Visceral Games in collaboration with their disclosed Star Wars game. The game will be affected, but some fans are still keeping hope that it will be released. Amazon.com has a reported placeholder for December 31st, 2015.
Gamers and Star Wars fanboys and fangirls alike have been waiting roughly eight years for a new Battlefront title! With a plethora of ups and downs, people started to lose hope in ever seeing another Battlefront. Thanks to EA for acquiring all rights for the Star Wars games.
Many believed this would be a chance for the title to have new life. Bring Battlefront back to life, it did. With EA having a ten year ownership of the license, they asked developer DICE to helm the cockpit for Battlefront. DICE is most known for their flagship franchise, Battlefield.
One of the design team members at DICE recently tweeted that Battlefront is, "In a playable state!" Are you excited yet? I can already sense happiness within the force, because of course you are...right? The game is slated for a release sometime in 2015, but we may see it released sooner with the news that the game is in a playable state.
Although, I would not be upset if they took time to polish the game and make sure it is as great as a game can be.
EA Sports UFC comes to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 17, 2014. Recently revealed is the secret fighter, who is none other than Bruce Lee! Lee is the single man described as the grandfather of MMA. This has excited UFC and Bruce Lee fans alike. To finally be able to play as the one man who was once described as the baddest man on the planet is a dream for many.
Halo 5 will see the return of Master Chief, the main protagonist in most iterations into the franchise. No release date has been clear with Amazon having a placeholder for December 31, 2014, which means it will most likely be early to mid 2015. It will be an Xbox One exclusive.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is our final title. Metal Gear Solid is one of the most beloved franchises in the industry, that much cannot be denied.
No release date has been revealed, while Amazon set a placeholder for December 31st, 2014. Phantom Pain will release for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3.
