As a Metroidvania, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown involves backtracking and opening up new areas with new skills. It also means parts of the map are darkened, hiding their secrets. Here’s how to reveal the map in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.
How to Reveal the Map in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
You can reveal the map in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown by purchasing maps from Fariba, the child you’ll meet in the Haven. While in the hub area, you can pay Fariba crystals to receive hints, such as where you should go next. However, you can also find her in specific rooms in each zone. If you meet here in these areas, you can purchase a map of that zone for crystals.
Note that Fariba isn’t marked on your map at all. Though her icon appears in the Haven, her icon doesn’t appear in areas that you haven’t entered yet (even if Guided Mode is enabled), so you’ll just have to keep exploring at your leisure if you want to find her.
How to Use Maps After Purchasing Them
Purchasing maps from Fariba reveals the general layout of a specific zone. For instance, I’ve included an image below that shows the map of the Sunken Harbor biome. Sections and corridors with a brighter shade mean you’ve already visited those areas. The darker areas, however, are places that you’ve yet to reach.
Since the layout of each area is already visible, you’ll have a general idea of where each room goes and what it’s connected to. As in most Metroidvania, this is an essential to tool for finding items, collectibles, and areas blocked off with skills you don’t yet have.
How to Open the Map and Place Map Markers
To open your larger map in The Lost Crown, press the View button on Xbox, the Touchpad on PlayStation, the Minus button on Switch, and Tab on PC.
Once your map is open and you begin revealing locations, you can also start placing map markers. The appropriate key will be visible on-screen when you open the map. For example, press A on Xbox and X on PlayStation. These are great for creating your own waypoints back to important, otherwise unmarked, locations.
That’s how to reveal the map in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Don’t forget that you can use other features found in the game’s Accessibility menu, such as switching to Guided Mode and using Memory Shards to take screenshots of the current area and pin them on your map.
