Super Smash Bros. for 3DS has only been out for a few days in Japan and a pretty sizable bug has been found. When playing Peach in the For Glory game mode, Peach’s Down-B triggers an anti-hack security which is banning players for 24 hours. The theory of why this bug is occurring is because when Peach uses her Down-B, it pulls a turnip out of the ground and into the battlefield. The system sees this as an exploit bringing an item into a game mode that has all items disabled. It hasn’t been 100% confirmed that this is causing the bug as other characters such as Link can bring items (bombs) into the battlefield, but it seems like it’s specifically Peach that is having an issue.
There are two things that one can take away from this. One is that Nintendo will patch this soon, which is a good sign for the game’s lifespan. If Nintendo can keep issuing updates to fix bugs on the system, it’s multiplayer will see a much longer life. Also, this means that Nintendo does have a system in place to keep exploit users out of the competitive battlefield. This will help keep the game mode skill reliant and not allow it to run rampant with exploits and hacks.
