Slime enemies, called Flan in recent Final Fantasy games, have always been annoying to fight if you don’t know how, and the White Mouse enemies in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth are the worst. However, if you know how to Pressure them, the fight instantly becomes easier, to the point of being almost effortless.
Like all Flan, White Mousse are heavily resistant to physical attacks. In other words, the attacks of every member of your party, except Aerith, will do essentially nothing to them. That resistance even includes Limit Breaks and Synergy Abilities, both of which are wasted on a White Mousse — or any Flan enemy.
How to Pressure the White Mousse in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Thankfully, all you need to do to Pressure a White Mousse is hit it with an elemental magic attack. I prefer either Fire or Ice. They’ll go into Pressure the instant the spell hits, and while their resistance to physical damage doesn’t change, any other damage source will vastly increase their Stagger gauge.
The kicker for White Mouse is that once you hit them with a particular element, they’ll take a moment to build a heavy resistance to that element. Trying to use Fire on a Fire-Resistant White Mousse will give you the same result as if you hit it with Cloud’s Sword or Tifa’s fists: not much value.
That knife cuts both ways, thankfully. A Fire Resistant White Mousse will suddenly be weak to Ice and vice versa. With that in mind, you can simply alternate between casting Fire and Blizzard spells to keep the slime monster under constant Pressure. White Mousse don’t have the largest Stagger meter, either, so a spell or two is all it takes to Stagger them.
The best party member to bring to a White Mousse fight is undoubtedly Aerith, using her Arcane Ward. Any spell she casts while in it casts a second time for free. And because the White Mousse needs to take action to add an elemental resistance, you can get off two Fire or Blizzard spells before it’s had a chance to swap weaknesses. Aerith is also uniquely situated to deal more worthwhile damage with her normal attacks, given they’re all magic damage.
Perhaps most importantly, White Mousse don’t have very high health, relying on their natural physical defense to keep them alive. Throw a few spells in their direction, and they’ll collapse into a pile of useless slime in no time.
And that’s all you need to know about how to Pressure and beat White Mousse enemies in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Pretty straightforward stuff. For more on the game, check out our FF7 Rebirth guides hub.
