Want to kick Cyclops butt? This guide's got you covered.

The Cyclops is one of the first boss-like monsters you’ll face in Dragon’s Dogma 2. There are two ways you can face one early, either through a side quest or through the main mission while traveling to the capital. Here’s how to beat the Cyclops in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

No matter how you come to face a Cyclops, this boss fight will teach you about the core combat mechanics of Dragon’s Dogma 2. Here are some tips to beat him:

  • If you haven’t already, fill out your party with pawns at Riftstones. I highly recommend Mage pawns because they can heal you. Archers are also great for outputting steady damage at range, but you’ll want a Fighter if your Arisen is one of these ranged roles already.
  • When you see the Cyclops wobbling, go in, grab his leg (Hold R2 on PS5), and then move from left to right. This will cause the Cyclops to fall, making his head an easy target.
  • The head is his weak spot, where he’ll drastically take more damage. If you’re an Archer, focus on it. Otherwise, you can hit the head with other Vocations when the boss falls or by climbing it. Mages should kite the boss and spam damage spells while pawns draw aggro.
  • Climbing the boss is crucial for reaching its weak spot. I usually approach it from behind and jump on his back while hitting the grapple button as soon as I make contact. Then climb up his back to his head and spam attack for critical damage. I had an easier time being a Thief since Twin Fangs automatically climbs the boss, but you can do this with any Vocation.
  • Make sure to gear up properly at the shop in Melve. Look for the best weapon and armor your class can wield and buy it. Don’t worry about gearing up your pawn for now. It’s important that you do optimal damage and have high defense since pawns can be revived, and you can’t.

How to Find Cyclops in Dragon’s Dogma 2

There are two ways you can face the Cyclops in the early game near Melve:

  • Melve Side Quest: If you accept the side quest where you’re looking for an NPC’s lost brother, you can find a Cyclops just beyond the spot where the brother is being attacked by wolves. The two reunited brothers will even join you in the fight.
  • Main Quest: While traveling to the capital with the Watchhead, you’ll encounter a Cyclops at the dam. I found this one easier than the Melve forest one as it has a lower HP pool, and you have an escort to help you.

Lastly, I also used the consumable spell tomes to great effect against the Cyclops, especially the Lightning and Fire ones. Don’t worry. They won’t hit your allies; they seem to just damage enemies. That concludes my guide on how to defeat the Cyclops in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Want more helpful tips? Check out our other DD2 guides.
