A terrifying screech tore through the air. I spun around, looking for the source of the ear-splitting cry. A wall of rock as tall as the eye could see stood to my left. A forest of monstrous trees and oversized flowers to my right. Before me, a devilsaur. My skin tore apart. Hair sprouted from my stretched hide as I transformed into a dire bear. I ran between the creature’s legs. Behind the would-be predator, I slashed at its feet. It’s head, outsretched and jaw wide acme screaming around its body. I slammed my paw into the monster’s eye. It reeled in pain… pain that would enrage more than debilitate. I continued to dig my claws into its feet. I stood on my hind legs to deliver a more devastating maul. In a single swift motion, he spun around and slammed his jaw closed around my torso. His teeth ripped through my leathery flesh and I felt the blood trickle down my stomach and fall to the ground below. In one final desperate act, I transformed back into my original form. I hoped that I would slip through his teeth but alas, my efforts were met with not success, but death. My spirit left my body. I opened my eyes. The world had turned grey. Floating delicately before my very eyes, an angel. I approached the marvellous being. “Fear not young Tauren for it is not yet your time. I shall guide your spirit back to your body.” Colour rushed over me and I was returned to the world. I felt weak but my body was in perfect condition. Ten minutes passed before my strength returned in full. I opened my pack and reached for a scroll. I re-read the missive. “Where in this god forsaken jungle is that bloody Marshall’s Refuge?!” A voice rang through my head, a whisper from an entity whose name is long forgotten. “Its in the northern mountain range.”
