Tabula Smaragdina in Noita is an item that, along with the other Emerald Tablets, has spawned a lot of confusion among new players. Besides the game lore they contain, players are wondering what they are used for. So what is the Tabula Smaragdina in Noita?

Tabula Smaragdina in Noita Explained

Tabula Smaragdina is one of the Emerald Tablets that you can find at the Lava Lake. More specifically, it’s on the far right side of the mines as you exit them and climb the Lava Lake cliff to the left of the lake. The tablet provides some lore about the game, but it can also be used mechanically in the following ways:

• Weapon: You can use Tabula Smaragdina and all other Emerald Tablets as weapons by throwing them at enemies. Due to their weight, they deal considerable damage, and I usually get the trick kill gold bonus with them since this counts as a trick kill. You can also kick them for added distance.
• Cover: Due to their size, you can drop and deploy a tablet as cover against ranged attacks. I also used it to block enemies in a chokehold or climb up out of damaging terrain.
• Mountain Altar: You can place the Tabula Smaragdina on the Mountain Altar to trade it in for gold. The Mountain Altar is on a floating island just above the starting mountain. I reached it by going back to it later on once I found a teleport spell, but you can also use low gravity and levitation perks. Some folks even reached it by dousing polymorphium on themselves with a right-click as you fly with a flask of polymorphium. Once you’ve reached the flying island, throw the tablet on the altar to get gold.
