The road to success in Infection Free Zone starts with choosing a great starting location. You can find some of those places right in the game’s Suggested Location list, featuring unique and advantageous towns and cities. Other locations have been found by fans, though it’s hard to beat the game’s own selection. Whether you need protection, more resources, or bigger houses to loot, there’s a starting location for you.
Best Starting Locations for Infection Free Zone
Cambridge, UK
Everyone knows of Cambridge, but would you have guessed that this university city is one of the best locations in Infection Free Zone? With plenty of wood, many specialized buildings like hospitals and shops, as well as a plethora of research centers, Cambridge won’t leave players wanting more resources. The drawback is that this location can be hard to defend, but you can always move the headquarters to a more strategic location later if need be.
Cambridge can be found among the Infection Free Zone suggested locations as Cambridge, UK.
Taizhou, China
Taizhou, situated on the eastern coast of China, is a packed, lively city. However, what matters most for our purposes is that Taizhou is not a metropolis. There are plenty of houses to raid, repurpose, and scrap for resources, as well as a decent amount of trees near the HQ. Being a full-fledged city, it has hospitals, shops, police stations, and more advanced buildings. All this, but without the extra zombies found in high-density population areas.

Dijon, France
Dijon is a mid-sized city in France. It has quite a lot of trees and pleasant, orderly architecture. Houses are arranged with little space between one another. That said, the game packs them close enough to one another that reaching them by foot is easy. There are plenty of stores and other specialized buildings, too. It might be hard to defend, requiring you to spend more on healing your squads, but it might be your ideal location if you’re struggling with resources.

Kastellet in Copenhagen, Denmark
The Kastellet is a fortress in Copenhagen surrounded by a small citadel. Around the citadel is an artificial river meant to protect the town from enemy armies. Fortunately, the same tactics work just as well on zombies as they do on humans. I like this location because of its defensive potential: even if zombies can swim, water slows them down tremendously, making them easy targets for firearms.
The Kastellet military citadel is not among the Infection Free Zone suggested locations list. Instead, it can be found by searching for “Kastellet, Copenhagen, Denmark” in the location search bar that appears when creating a new game.
Peschiera, Italy
Peschiera, full name Peschiera del Garda, is a tourist town sitting on the river of Lake Garda, in northern Italy. But Peschiera is also the best location for defense in the whole game. The town’s HQ is surrounded by water on all sides, which slows down the infects and makes it trivial for just a few squads to defend the zone. It also features quite a few stores and special buildings, even if you might need a well-maintained car to use those effectively.
