10 Most Popular Fallout 4 Mods in 2024

Take your Fallout 4 experience to the next level with these mods!

The success of the new Fallout series makes it the perfect time to return to the games or give them a try for the first time. Plus, there’s a mountain of mods to help improve the games. Here are the 10 most popular Fallout 4 mods in 2024.

10. See Through Scopes

See Through Scopes, created by henkspamadres, is a quality-of-life improvement that removes the default scope overlay for rifles. Instead, you get scopes with a clean interface and several different options for the layout and style of reticles. I definitely prefer the scopes from this mod myself, as they’re more similar to what I’m used to in games.

9. Long Loading Times Fix

Long loading screens are annoying. Because of that, the Long Loading Times Fix mod by Antonix35 is a must-have for improving the game’s quality. It might not seem like much, and it doesn’t add extra content or features. However, sometimes, the best mods solve issues in the base game rather than add extra features to it.

8. NPCs Use Items

NPCs Use Items mod by Zzyxzz does exactly what its name says and allows NPCs to use items on their own. You get a whole menu for settings. It lets you decide how likely NPCs are to use certain types of items, along with the minimum and maximum amounts of buff items they can have. As a result, combat with NPCs becomes more interesting and less predictable.

7. True Storms – Wasteland Edition

True Storms is a mod by fadingsignal that’s based on a similar mod for Skyrim. Once installed, it revamps the weather effects in-game and adds extra features like configurable ghoul hordes during rainstorms. Having the additional weather types, effects, and sounds makes the game feel more immersive and beautiful.

6. Fallout 4 – Texture Optimization Project

Texture Optimization Project mod by torcher doesn’t affect the quality of the textures, but it helps computers handle them better. Because the default textures are a lot for computers to handle, this mod compresses them so that you can enjoy the 2K textures the way they were meant to be seen. While it might not seem like a big change at first, it really does make a difference.

5. Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch

Like the previous entry, the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch mod by Arthmoor isn’t flashy. However, it makes a big difference in terms of the gameplay quality. There are bugs and issues that have never been fixed, so this mod acts as a way to address as many of those issues as possible to provide the best experience possible.

There’s also a similar mod for Fallout: New Vegas, if you plan on checking out or returning to that title as well.

4. Armorsmith Extended

Created by Gambit77, Armormith Extended mod does a lot. More specifically, the mod’s page lists sixteen total changes that it makes to the base game. From extra crafting recipes to changing how armor is worn so you can have a helmet that doesn’t cover your face and a gas mask at the same time to an overhaul of the clothing modding system, it upgrades the whole armor and clothing aspect of the game.

3. Sim Settlements 2

Do you enjoy city builders, but find the settlement system unsatisfying? If so, Sim Settlements 2 mod by Sim Settlements Team is for you. You get an entire storyline, new settlers, holiday decorations, extra building plans, everything the settlers need to take care of themselves, and more. I find the settlement idea interesting, but the base game’s implementation felt lackluster. With the help of mods, however, it became much more fun, and like its own side game, you can play for a break from the wasteland.

2. Eli’s Armour Compendium

Created by Elianora, Eli’s Armour Compendium mod is a bit different from the Armorsmith Extended mod. It focuses on adding more armor options instead of overhauling the armor and crafting system. As a result, you get a bunch of new outfit choices that are more lore-friendly than the Armorsmith mod. However, it does add more recipes as well. Plus, it lets all armor be modded with lining and ballistic weave. It’s not surprising that it’s among the most popular mods with these benefits!

1. Homemaker – Expanded Settlements

Yes, another settlement mod. Homemaker – Expanded Settlements is made by bombasticmori, and it adds a ton of content specifically for settlements. Instead of becoming a city builder, this mod expands settlements by adding new craftable objects, build sets, and other items like planters that work. Altogether, the mod makes it possible to turn your settlement into your perfect wasteland base.

These are the 10 most popular Fallout 4 mods in 2024, but they’re far from your only options. The modding community has created so much content that you’re certain to find mods that meet your needs. And from here, take a look at our Fallout guide hub for more related content!
