Although games came in fourth in total number of successfully funded projects (behind film, music and publishing), they rose in the category of money spent, third only to technology and design. The data released by Kickstarter also showed statistics which many may find surprising.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance – an RPG set in the middle ages – was one of the most successful projects to be funded through Kickstarter, after being backed by 35,000 people and reaching its goal in less than two days. Meanwhile, Amplitude HD was the most financially successful video game project to be funded through Kickstarter; the game made more than $840,000 while it was on the crowd funding app.

However, not all the games that appeared on Kickstarter were successful. Some may remember a post-apocalyptic real time strategy called Human Resources which ended up being cancelled earlier this year after the developers – Uber Entertainment – felt that the project would not meet its funding goals.
