What is Path of Stars and How to Upgrade Hexes in Hades 2

Let's explain the Path of Stars and Moonglow systems in Hades 2 for upgrading Hexes from Selene's Gift of the Moon.

Unlike in the original, in Hades 2 ultimate abilities are called Hexes and they come from Selene’s Blessings. When you pick one up the terms Moonglow and Path of Stars are mentioned for upgrading Hexes. So what is Path of Stars and how to upgrade Hexes in Hades 2?

Path of Stars Explained in Hades 2

Whenever you pick up a Gift of the Moon boon from Seline and select Hexes all three will be marked with different Moonglows for Path of Stars. The Path of Stars is essentially a skill tree for upgrading Hexes that is accessible the next time you pick up Seline’s Gift of the Moon boon during the same run. The number of points you can spend in the Path of Stars skill tree for Hex upgrades is represented by the Hex’s Moonglow values as follows:

  • Crescent Moonglow: A Hex marked by this Moonglow won’t give you any points to spend in the Path of Stars skill tree.
  • Half Moonglow: This Moonglow will give you enough points to spend in Path of Stars the next time you pick up Gift of the Moon to unlock one of the Rare upgrades for the Hex.
  • Full Moonglow: This Moonglow will give you enough points to unlock 2 Rare upgrades.

Besides having in mind the best Hexes in Hades 2, I would also recommend picking up those that have at least the Half Moonglow mark since upgrades to your Hex can get pretty powerful. For example, you can extend the major time-slowing effect of Phase Shift for a few extra seconds which can be crucial for defeating bosses by extending your damage window. That said, this means that you have to pick up another Gift of the Moon from Seline so be on the look-out after the first one. Furthermore, if you pick up the Gift of the Moon twice, you also have a chance to unlock the most powerful Epic upgrade on the far right.
