V Rising has a beautifully diverse set of magic schools and different spells and augments for you to create unique builds. I wanted to outline optimal spell choices specifically for PVE across five tiers that go from best to situational. Here’s my V Rising spells tier list for PVE.
Best V Rising Spells Tier List
S Tier
The S Tier is the cream of the crop in terms of PvE abilities that you should generally always take even if you’re not building specifically around them.
The Veils and Dashes here allow you to trigger powerful effects like resetting cooldowns with some Jewels or dashing several times. As for the ultimates, they deal great damage but also provide tanking with the Army of the Dead or a window of invulnerability with Raging Tempest. I also like Crimson Beam a lot in co-op with friends for the incredible healing and decent damage.
- Veil Of Illusion.
- Ward of the Damned.
- Chaos Volley.
- Mist Trance.
- Army of the Dead.
- Veil Of Chaos.
- Raging Tempest.
- Crimson Beam.
A Tier
In A Tier we have a bunch of effects that can heal your allies, output quick-casting DPS with great crowd-control effects, or summon allies. Lightning Typhoon has some of the best DPS potential out of all ultimates and the Blood Magic spells here can heal your entire team. These are some of the best PVE abilities in the game that you should base builds around:
- Frost Bat.
- Lightning Typhoon.
- Frost Barrier.
- Sanguine Coil.
- Corrupted Skull.
- Chaos Barrier.
- Blood Fountain.
- Spectral Wolf.
- Spectral Guardian.
- Veil of Frost.
- Ball Lightning.
- Discharge.
B Tier
In B Tier we have a slew of spells with incredible potential if you build around them but those that aren’t as “must-have” as some of the above. For example, you can create an incredible build around Soulburn if you combine it with gap closers.
Furthermore, a lot of the abilities here provide some tanking for your team as Death Knight or Mosquito draw aggro away. Lastly, there’s a lot of movement here with Wraith Spear and Merciless Charge that you should consider if your other spells lack these effects:
- Arctic Leap.
- Cold Snap.
- Ice Nova.
- Wisp Dance.
- Wraith Spear.
- Soulburn.
- Death Knight.
- Mosquito.
- Veil of Bones.
- Volatile Arachnid.
- Soulburn.
- Blood Rite.
- Merciless Charge.
- Bone Explosion.
C Tier
C Tier is full of situational abilities that might be useful in certain situations but there are generally better options. You’ll find abilities here that while they sound interesting, there are usually better options. That said, if you happen to use any and they work for your playstyle, then you’re not missing anything out and you should stick to what you personally prefer:
- Veil Of Storm.
- Polarity Shift.
- Cyclone.
- Chaos Barrage.
- Void.
- Blood Rage and Power Surge.
- Aftershock.
- Heart Strike.
- Veil Of Blood.
- Veil Of Storm.
- Bone Explosion.
D Tier
Up last, the D Tier category isn’t necessarily useless spells as no ability is useless in V Rising and everything can work based on personal preference and playstyle. That said, there are various more optimal options than these here.
For example, Ice Lance and Shadowbolt are quite slow to cast, and you should generally take Frost Bat, which does a similar effect but is much faster. Furthermore, pure shield effects aren’t the best since you really don’t want to be getting hit by bosses that much. Lightning Curtain is a great utility, but the Storm School offers better options.
- Phantom Aegis.
- Ice Lance.
- Lightning Curtain.
- Shadowbolt.
