Released back in Honkai: Star Rail’s 1.3 update, Fu Xuan is a 5-star Quantum character that follows the path of Preservation. Unlike other Preservation characters like Aventurine who use shields to mitigate damage, Fu Xuan’s instead acts as a tank for the entire time, absorbing damage for everyone to ensure their survival. To maximize everyone’s survivability, I picked the best Light Cones, relics, and more to build the tankiest Fu Xuan.
Best Light Cones for Fu Xuan
Many of the available Preservation Light Cones work really well with Fu Xuan, especially ones that give her more HP to increase her tanking capabilities or reduce overall damage. The following Light Cones are ones that satisfy these aforementioned requirements, allowing her to solo-sustain in most cases.
Light Cone | Where to Get |
She Already Shut Her Eyes (5-star) | Brilliant Fixation Warp (Limited-Event Banner) |
Moment of Victory (5-star) | Stellar Warp (Standard Banner) and Starlight Exchange Shop |
Texture of Memories (5-star) | Herta’s Store |
Landau’s Choice (4-star) | All Warp Banners |
Day One of My New Life (4-star) | Stellar War (Standard Banner) and All Event Warps |

General Stats
Building up HP on Fu Xuan is going to be far more valuable than focusing on DEF, especially since she tanks damage for the entire team with every hit. DEF is still important, as this will help give her extra survivability during tough battles, but still, HP ends up being the better stat overall if you’re looking to make her into a dedicated tank unit.
A solid HP minimum to aim for when using Fu Xuan (with her Skill up) is around 6500. Additionally, you should also aim for 134 SPD to get extra turns on the first and fourth cycles of battles, but higher SPD will grant her more turns to build up Energy for her Ultimate or reapply her Skill.
The following are the main stats you should get on specific relic pieces:
- Body: HP% (or DEF% if you have enough HP)
- Feet: SPD (or HP% if you need extra HP)
- Planar Sphere: HP% (or DEF% if you have enough HP)
- Link Rope: Energy Regeneration Rate

Fu Xuan Trace Priorities
When leveling up Fu Xuan’s Traces, prioritize maxing out her Talent and Skill. These areas of her kit are what affect her sustainability the most, as both components allow her to consistently tank damage and heal up. Her skill, in particular, also gives her teammates extra CRIT Rate, allowing them to deal more consistent damage. After focusing on these Traces, you can raise up her Ultimate to dish out more damage. Be sure to also unlock her Major Traces, as these affect her Energy regeneration, healing capabilities, and crowd-control resistance.
Best Fu Xuan Team Comps
Note: Fu Xuan is a very flexible support unit, and with very few exceptions, she’s an excellent choice on any team. Her extra CRIT Rate via her Skill is also helpful if your DPS needs a boost in this area to deliver consistent damage.
Team: Fu Xuan, Clara, Blade, and Flex Harmony Unit
This double DPS team can be sustained by a well-built Fu Xuan. Both Clara and Blade rely on getting hit to deliver damage, and Fu Xuan is the perfect sustain unit to ensure that when they take damage, they won’t knock out. By increasing their survivability without affecting their damage output, Fu Xuan really shines for these two DPS units. This team is made even better if you toss in another Harmony unit like Asta for extra SPD or Ruan Mei for an overall damage boost.
I hope that this Fu Xuan build gives you an easier time when taking on the harder content in Honkai: Star Rail. For more tips on character builds, team comps, and more, be sure to check out our HSR guides.
