How to Start Legendary Campaign Destiny 2

Here's how to start Legendary Campaigns in Destiny 2.

Legendary Campaigns are both a way to challenge yourself further and replay previous campaigns on harder difficulties for better loot. That said, players seem to be struggling to start legendary campaigns if they’ve skipped the initial choice first. Here’s how to start the Legendary Campaign in Destiny 2.

How to Play Legendary Campaign in Destiny 2

If you can’t find where to start a legendary campaign in Destiny 2, you just need to launch the mission in its normal mode, and you can then select Legendary after it loads. For example, if you got a prompt to start a Legendary campaign and declined it to check something else, you can just run a normal mission and select Legendary afterward.

Note that the mission needs to load first, and then you can select campaign modes. This means you’ll have to wait for the cutscene to finish and wait for the first combat section. As an example, in the Lightfall campaign, you need to launch First Contact to start the campaign in Legendary mode.

You can also switch difficulty modes at any time by going to the campaign screen and switching it via the dropdown menu or the mission replay menu for ones you’ve already completed. That said, if you haven’t completed a mission on Legendary already, it’ll say, “A challenge awaits..” when selected. In most cases, you need to complete all missions in the Legendary campaign mode to claim Legendary-specific rewards.

Destiny 2 also keeps track of Legendary missions you did complete, so you can always switch to Normal if you’re struggling, then come back with better gear. The Legendary mission progress will be saved, and you can continue where you left off.

That’s it for my guide on how to start Legendary campaigns in Destiny 2. Remember that while difficulty does increase, so does the quality of the loot you get. For more Destiny 2 guides, check out the best DPS weapons in Destiny 2 in 2024.
