The Skyline Valley update brought us two new public events, giving you fun open-world missions to complete and a new world boss to defeat. As a reward, you’ll have a chance to earn specific plans that unlock unique Skyline Valley. Here’s the Fallout 76 Season 17 new public events explained.
All Fallout 76 Skyline Valley Public Events Explained
Currently, two public events are in the new region of Appalachia, which Bethesda released during the Skyline Valley update. We’ll discuss where to find them, how to complete them, and what rewards to expect. We will update this guide if any additional public events are added during Season 17 and beyond.
Dangerous Pastimes
The Dangerous Pastimes public event occurs at the Thunder Mountain substation TM-03 location of the Skyline Valley region of Appalachia. David Shuffleworth gives the quest as a voice box announcer. The first step to completing the Dangerous Pastimes public event is to speak to the settlers in the substation building using the intercom. The settlers will give you instructions on what you must do to complete the event.
Next, you must walk around the substation and collect lightning harvester parts. Once collected, you’ll need to bring them to the center, where you’ll find the lightning harvester. Be prepared to be swarmed by lots of Lost, who do high melee damage at this point. However, they will spawn near the street, so focus your energy there if you are playing solo or have someone stationed by the wall to keep them from swarming the center if you are playing on a team.
Finally, after you complete that phase of the event, a legendary three-star hermit crab called the Thunder Crab will spawn. The Thunder Crab serves as the public event’s final boss.
You will have a chance to earn one of the following plans as a reward for completing the Dangerous Pastimes public event in Fallout 76:

Neurological Warfare
The Neurological Warfare public event will take place at the Hawksbill Weather Station in the Skyline Valley region of Appalachia. Once started, you’ll need to wait for the doors to open. The area you wait in asks as a preparation zone for you to get ready. There are workbenches you can use to make any last-minute adjustments.
Once the countdown finishes, use the door to enter the Robot Testing Arena. Once inside, you’ll need to wait another short period for the Fabricator to finish. After this timer runs out, the Fabricator will open, and three Storm Goliaths will follow. These Storm Goliaths are Morta, Decima, and Nona, and you’ll need to defeat them within the timeframe to complete the public event.
