In case you missed the discourse, Scadutree Fragments are incredibly important to the progression in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. There are 50 to find in the Realm of Shadow, and they confer a massive bonus to both your damage and damage negation. Here’s where to find them all.
All Scadutree Fragment Locations in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
While there are 50 Scadutree Fragments in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, some locations drop two at a time rather than just one. Those locations are few and far between, so expect to comb the entire map to reach the maximum Scadutree Blessing level: 20.
That said, you’ll find many more Scadutree Fragments in the less optional areas of the DLC. The Cerulean Coast, the Jagged Peak, and the Hinterland have few — if any — Fragments to speak of. The Scadu Altus, Gravesite Plain, and Ancient Ruins of Rauh contain the vast majority of Fragments, with a few scattered throughout the various Legacy Dungeons and their environs. We will, of course, be going over where to find all of them, though some regions will take much more time to get through.
Three-Path Cross Scadutree Fragment
Shortly after you enter the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, you should see the Gravesite Plain Site of Grace. Head basically straight north from it, and you’ll see the first of many of Miquella’s Crosses. Redmane Freyja and the Hornsent will also be nearby. The Scadutree Fragment is right next to the cross, as will always be the case.
Main Gate Cross Scadutree Fragment
Travel west from the Three-Path Cross through the large gateway, and you’ll encounter the Main Gate Cross Site of Grace, as well as Sir Ansbach and Moore. The Scadutree Fragment is, as with all such Fragments, right next to the Cross.
Cross in Belurat, Tower Settlement
If you go into Belurat, Tower Settlement from the Main Gate Cross, you can make your way all the way to the top and the Divine Dancing Lion boss. The Cross with the Scadutree Fragment is on the way. Proceed through Belurat until you reach the bridge with the Horned Warrior wielding the large greatsword. Rather than cross the bridge, return to the intersection you passed on the way there and turn left. At the end of the path is a room filled with spider scorpions and the Bone Bow, and just outside that room is a pile of rubble you can clamber over.
Climbing over the rubble will reveal a doorway leading into a fly-man-infested chamber, at the back of which is another of Miquella’s Crosses with the Fragment.
Supply Pot Ghost Scadutree Fragment, South of Main Gate Cross
One of the more hidden Scadutree Fragments in the Gravesite Plain, there are a few steps to get it. First, travel to the Main Gate Cross, then travel south and follow the path along the cliffs leading west.
Continue until you come out onto the plateau with the large ruined structure. Grab the Grace there, then keep west toward the cliffside unit. You will see a graveyard in the distance with a bunch of ghostly mobs gathered around. Among them is a Pot Ghost with a pot on his head. Killing a pot ghost causes him to drop the Scadutree Fragment.
Chruch of Consolation Scadutree Fragment
Shortly after getting the Gravesite Plain map fragment, one of the main points of interest to the south will be what appears to be a church at the edge of the area the map outlines. This is the Church of Consolation, and getting to it is easy.
Follow the southern cliffs, past Logur the Beast Claw, and then north when you see the church in the distance. There’s a Black Knight of Messmer guarding the Scadutree Fragments, and while you don’t need to kill it to grab the Fragment, doing so gets you the Black Knight Greathammer for your trouble. Picking up the loot item by the headless statue of Marika actually awards two Scadutree Fragments. Quite the bounty.
Eastern Gravesite Plain Pot Ghost Scadutree Fragment
If you thought you were done hunting pot ghosts, boy, do I have news for you! There’s a second one on the Gravesite Plain, just east of the Scorched Ruins. The easiest way to find it is to pick up the Scorched Ruins Site of Grace on those ruins’ north side, then travel east toward the cliff. You’ll see another graveyard with ghostly mobs and a pot ghost who holds the Scadutree Fragment.
Castle Ensis Camp Scadutree Fragment
Another of the easier Scadutree Fragments to get is to simply travel north across Ellac Bridge toward Castle Ensis and head directly into the enemy encampment in front of the castle. You’ll see the headless statue of Marika with the Fragment on your way.
Pillar Path Cross Scadutree Fragment
From the camp in front of Castle Ensis, take the upper path southeast through the additional soldiers and fortifications, past the Swift Spear, until you can see one of Miquella’s Crosses in the distance. This is the Pillar Path Cross, and, again, it has a single Scadutree Fragment near it, as well as the NPC Thiollier. I also like to use the Pillar Path Cross Grace as a starting point to get to the shortcut to Scadu Altus, as I enjoy fighting Rellana, Twin Moon Knight with way more power than I did on my first playthrough.
Castle Ensis Checkpoint Scadutree Fragment
Proceed into Castle Ensis, past the Carian Giant, up through the caves, and either past or through the Black Knight descending the hill. Grab the Site of Grace, which is just near Miquella’s Cross and is the only Scadutree Fragment in Castle Ensis.
Highroad Cross Scadutree Fragment
Just northeast of Castle Ensis is the Highroad Cross Site of Grace and its mandatory Scadutree Fragment. If you come from the Fort of Reprimand after taking the shortcut to Scadu Altus, head through the cave north of the fort, go past the Ghostflame Dragon, and hang northwest. You’ll need to turn south to see Castle Ensis and the Highroad Cross, but it’s pretty obvious from the intersection.
Moorth Ruins Cross Scadutree Fragment
Directly east of the Highroad Cross is Moorth Ruins and Dryleaf Dane. You likely ran into it if you came north from the Fort of Repirmand, but it’s visible from the Highroad Cross as well. And like all Crosses, there’s a Scadutree Fragment there.
Moorth Ruins Camp Scadutree Fragment
In an instance of “Look over there!” that went straight over my head, if you travel just a bit west of the Moorth Ruins, you’ll come across a small encampment patrolled by two roaming Black Knights and some Soldiers of Messmer. In the middle of the camp is a statue of Marika and a Scadutree Fragment to grab.
Moorth Ruins Scadutree Fragment
Thought you were done hunting pot ghosts? Not by a long shot. You’ll find this one in the southeasternmost portion of Moorth Ruins, standing seemingly alone, minding its own business.
And while you can kill it and take its Scadutree Fragment, you’ll need to watch out for the Ascetic enemy and its double-bladed discs that stand guard.
Path to Rauh Base Scadutree Fragment
Just north of Dryleaf Dane and the Moorth Ruins Cross is a small body of water with a cave at its northern end. This path is essential to reaching the Rauh Base and get the Rauh Ruins map fragment, but before you start that journey, be sure to stop by the headless statue of Marika for the Scadutree Fragment.
Shadow Keep Camp Scadutree Fragment
Probably the most dangerous Scadutree Fragment in the Altus, the one in the camp south of the Shadow Keep is guarded not only by Messmer’s Forces but also by a Furnace Golem. The statue of Marika is right in front of the Golem, too, so you need to either kill everything, including the big guy, or make your way to the Fragment there and quit out of the game, then reload back in. Doing the latter returns all enemies to a passive state and their original positions, giving you a few precious seconds to grab the Fragment and booking it.
Church of the Crusade Scadutree Fragments
West of the Shadow Keep camp, on the western cliffside of the Scadu Altus is the Church of the Crusade. Like the Church of Consolation in the Gravesite Plain, there are actually two Scadutree Fragments here, but you’ll need to get past Fire Knight Queelign if you want to pick them up safely. You can, of course, ignore the idiot and grab the Fragments, but you get both the Prayer Room Key and the Flame Skewer Ash of War for beating him.
Scaduview Cross Scadutree Fragment
One of the most obscure Scadutree Fragments in the Altus, you’ll need to go to the far southeasternmost portion of the main Scadu Altus area, east of the Ghostflame Dragon guarding the Fort of Reprimand. There, you’ll discover a sealed spiritspring.
The cairn of stones sealing the spring is around the corner. Keep the cliff edge on your left and the cliff face on your right and you’ll see the thing tucked into a nook nearby.
Head up the spiritspring once it’s unsealed and travel to the southeastern tip of the area to find the Scaduview Cross, with the obligatory Scadutree Fragment just beside it.
Recluse’s River Waterfall Scadutree Fragment
All the Scadutree Fragments in the Recluse’s River are, by their nature, hard to find, as you need to not only go out of your way to find them, you also have to take the secret path from the Shadow Keep that leads to the Abyssal Forest and the coffin that leads to the water basin east of the keep.
After taking the coffin that leads to the Castle Watering Hole Site of Grace, continue south along the cliffs until you need to jump across to the right side of the path. If you keep going south, you’ll end up heading further down than you want. Instead, when you come across the mass of fly-men, hang a left onto the lower level, and follow that path ina U-turn that eventually leads down onto the riverbed. If you pick up the Dryleaf Seal on your way, you’re in the right place.
Follow the riverbed back toward the waterfall and you’ll see the Scadutree Fragment in a coffin guarded by a group of Miranda flowers.
Scadu Altus Hippo Scadutree Fragments
The final Scadutree Fragments you’ll find on the Scadu Altus are further down the Recluse’s River. Just before you make the final tombstone platform descent to Darklight Catacombs, you’ll encounter a pair of large hippopotamuses in a pond — smaller versions of the Shadow Keep’s Golden Hippopotamus.
The first is in the western portion of the water, and the second is in the east. Defeating them rewards a single Scadutree Fragment each. Don’t worry; you won’t need to deal with the golden thorns in these smaller fights.
Shadow Keep Golden Hippopotamus Boss Scadutree Fragments
The first Scadutree Fragments in the Shadow Keep are held by the Golden Hippopotamus boss, who functions exactly like the regular hippo enemies in the southern Scadu Altus, with the addition of some additional Crucible thorn attacks. Defeating it awards two Fragments and victory over the camera.
Shadow Keep Cross Scadutree Fragment
You’ll need to progress a fair way through the Shadow Keep to reach this Scadutree Fragment. From the Golden Hippo fight (the ramparts at the southern part of the Keep), head up the elevator past the Fire Knight into Specimen Storage. Maneuver through the stacks and past the Vulgar Militia and shadow men up one staircase in darkness, then up the next staircase just beyond the one guarded by darkness and two hidden Vulgar Militia enemies. If you’re in the right place, you’ll see a Fire Knight looking out over the storehouse.
You can either kill or avoid the Knight and then head to its left toward the large hanging omen creature.
Make your way across said creature’s back to reach the cross and Fragment.
Dark Chamber Entrance Scadutree Fragment
Shortly after reaching the Shadow Keep Cross, you can exit out onto some scaffolding on the outer wall of the castle. Follow it around until you meet a special Fire Knight. Defeat her and open the door she guards to find a headless statue of Marika and another Skadutree Fragment.
Marika Statue Hand Scadutree Fragment
In the Church District of the Shadow Keep, you’re bound to run into a headless statue of Marika with an item on its hand. You’ll want to lower the water to make jumping over to the hand safer, then carefully hop across the small gap to pick up the fragment.
Shadow Keep Back Gate Scadutree Fragment
Take the elevator from the Church District up into the Shadow Keep’s Specimen Storage, then proceed up the Snake Eater Ladder (TM H. Kojima), then navigate through an opening in the bookshelves to the outer wall that eventually leads to the Loft Site of Grace. Take the small elevator up to the rafters and start making your way to the other side.
You should eventually see a platform below you with another opening leading back outside. Drop down, head out the opening, and take the even smaller elevator down to another set of scaffolding. Follow it around the Keep wall to another, stone elevator. Take it down, and before you enter the Commander Gaius fight, take a right into the side chamber to see the statue of Marika with the Fragment. As an aside, use the O Mother gesture by this statue to reach the Hinterland.
Scadutree Chalice Scadutree Fragments
Provided you get through Commander Gaius, take the path west of his boss arena beyond the huge tower to the Scadutree Chalice, where you’ll find a whopping five Fragments to add to your collection.
Cerulean Coast Cross Scadutree Fragment
With most of the main areas of Shadow of the Erdtree covered, there is a smattering of Scadutree Fragments remaining throughout the rest of the world. They’re not nearly as concentrated or as numerous, and one of the easiest to get is on the southern shore of the Cerulean Coast. Make your way to the Southern Shore map fragment and continue south toward the cliffside. You’ll see the cross and Fragment sitting overlooking the ocean.
Stone Coffin Fissure Cross Scadutree Fragment
Situated in the southern peninsula of the Cerulean Coast is a massive hole leading deep beneath the earth. At the bottom is one of two things: a massive, golden seal placed by Miquella or a cave mouth leading deeper still. To pass the seal, Miquella needs to have cast aside his Great Rune, and event you’ll know by the sound cue, golden shards falling from the sky, and an on-screen message saying as such and that a powerful charm is also dispelled. With the cave unsealed, follow it down into the Stone Coffin Fissure.
There’s only one way through the area: to the right, past the large coffin structure and the bloodfiends. When it seems like you’ve reached a dead end, continue until the ground crumbles from beneath you, but the fall deals no damage. Proceed deeper into the Fissure until you see one of Miquella’s Crosses with the Fragment nearby.
Cerulean Coast Northern Cave Scadutree Fragment
If you follow the northern cliffs of the Cerulean Coast, you’ll eventually encounter a path through the rocks that leads to a large clearing. You’ll encounter a demi-human swordsman, who you can avoid or defeat at your discretion. Continue northeast along the cliffside until you see groupings of red-headed glowing worms and several wandering demi-human enemies. There’s a cave in the cliff face to your north with a larger demi-human guarding the Scadutree Fragment.
Charo’s Hidden Grave Hippo Scadutree Fragment
One of the longest hikes you’ll need to take to get a Scadutree Fragment requires you to make your way all the way around through the Dragon’s Pit and to the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion.
You’ll need to use Torrent to climb over the huge dragon corpse at the Atlar and follow the path around to the red flower fields of Charo’s Hidden Grave.
From the entrance of the Hidden Grave, head northeast, keeping the cliffs above the Cerulean Coast on your left. Eventually, you’ll come upon another small body of water and a wandering hippopotamus. Defeat said hippo for the Scadutree Fragment.
Jagged Peak Rolling Rocks Scadutree Fragment
To reach the Jagged Peak, you’ll need to go left from the Dragon’s Pit Terminus rather than right and follow the path toward the mountain, taking spiritsprings up, passing a pair of fighting drakes, and even higher up until you reach a narrow pass where large boulders will roll toward you.
Avoid all the boulders and get to the back of the pass to find the Scadutree Fragment against the rock wall.
Abyssal Woods Abandoned Church Scadutree Fragments
The first and most important pair of Scadutree Fragments in the Abyssal Woods are at the Abandoned Church on the eastern edge of the mad forest. From the boss fight at the end of the Darkbright Catacombs, follow the path south, and when able, travel southeast. There’s only one right way, provided you keep east and south on your compass. When you reach the Abandoned Church, grab both the map fragment there and the Site of Grace, plus the two Scadutree Fragments at the back of the building.
Abyssal Woods Northern Tree Scadutree Fragment
To reach the only other Scadutree Fragment in the Abyssal Woods, you’ll need to navigate your way west. Yes, that means sneaking past the invulnerable horrors that are the winter lanterns.
You need to get past the first two winter lanterns, and you must also avoid the jingle fruits that will alert them to your fleshy, delicious presence. Once past the second monstrosity, keep to the right until you can travel north into a large clearing with an equally large and very dead tree.
Grab the Abyssal Woods Site of Grace in this clearing, and keep going north through a smaller opening in the rocks. You’ll see several judicators wandering around there. You can either kill them or ignore them, but keep heading northwest until you see a corpse leaning against a tree. That’s where you’ll find the Scadutree Fragment.
Ancient Ruins of Rauh Hippo Scadutree Fragments
Thought we were done with Elden Ring hippos, did you? Well, almost. This is actually the last one. I swear. You can reach it almost immediately after entering the Ancient Ruins of Rauh via the bridge from the Shadow Keep. Rather than turning right once you reach the grass, turn left. You’ll soon see a large stone elevator surrounded by boars.
Take the elevator down, and you’ll be greeted by a bloodfiend and a resting blood-infested dog. The dog itself will be lying next to a square passageway leading west.
Make your way down the passage, and on the other side, you’ll come across the hippo and down a flight of stairs. Defeating said hippo awards the first of four Scadutree Fragments in Rauh.
First Ancient Ruins of Rauh Pot Ghost Scadutree Fragment
There’s only one shadow man with pots that yields a Scadutree Fragment in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh. As you progress through the level, you’ll encounter large stone doors. Take the first one past the scorpions, then when you encounter another, go through it as well. You’ll eventually encounter a pit with a spiritspring. Jump down and allow the airflow to remove fall damage.
Head down the large passage leading to another spiritspiring, which you should take up. Just around the corner will be a set of shadowmen, one of whom has a sparkling pot on its head.
Kill the sparkly pot-holding enemy and pick up the Scadutree Fragment he holds.
Ancient Ruins of Rauh Miquella Cross Scadutree Fragment
For this Scadutree Fragment, return to the spiritspring near the god rays. However, rather than taking the spring up, turn left just beyond it and follow the path beneath the bridges and past the fly men. I suggest also bypassing the Crucible Knight you find on your path, as there’s a Site of Grace just behind him. Near said Site of Grace is one of Miquella’s Crosses, which, as always, has a Scadutree Fragment resting nearby.
Ancient Ruins of Rauh Guarded Altar Scadutree Fragment
The final Scadutree Fragment in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh is close to the boss arena with Romina, Saint of the Bud. Continue down the critical path until you reach a large room with a staircase leading down to the right and an altar sitting against the wall to the left. The item on the altar, “guarded” by a pair of shadowmen is the Scadutree Fragment. Beware the twirling ascetic enemy, but if you simply ride past all the enemies on Torrent, you can grab the fragment and dip out to the right of the altar without much trouble.
Temple Town Ruins Scadutree Fragment
Okay, so this Scadutree Fragment is the actual last one in the Rauh Ruins because it’s not technically in them. On your trek to the Rauh Ruins map fragment, you should have come across the Temple Town Ruins. The main building there seems impassable, but there’s a slightly hidden hole in the wall that leads inside.
Once within the ruin, use Torrent to traverse your way up onto the cloth-laden rooftops. You should see a corpse with a loot item on it. Carefully jump to the platform from which it hangs and pick up the Fragment.
Enir-Ilim Spiral Rise Scadutree Fragment
We’re in the endgame now, and the first Scadutree Fragment in the final Legacy Dungeon of Enir-Ilim doesn’t reveal itself until you’ve navigated past a bird warrior, a horned warrior, several Inquisitors, and tons of spell spam. Do that, and you’ll make it to the only one of Miquella’s Crosses in the area, with the obligatory Scadutree Fragment nearby.
Enir-Ilim Platforming Altar Scadutree Fragment
By far the most obscure and dangerous Scadutree Fragment in all of Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, for this one, you’ll need to exercise your platforming skills and get over any fears of heights you (like me) may or may not have. Head back down the stairs that led to the Spiral Rise Site of Grace and take the smaller stairwell on the left side of the larger staircase.
Go through the small room with the Inquisitor Ashes and jump down onto the stairs below you with the corpse that you can loot.
Head past the unlit brazier and look over the broken railing. Yes, you need to jump down and make your way along the wall to get to the Fragment.
Jump down and hug the wall as best you can until you reach a tower with gargoyles coming out its sides. Jump down on to those next.
Go around the tower to the left and drop through the gap. Kill the shadow man there and head over till you can see an open window across a large gap. Oh yes, you’re jumping through that.
Once you make it through the window (provided you don’t fall into the pit), exit the small chamber and into the open air. Beware the scorpion spider guarding the area, then grab the Scadutree Fragment near the altar.
First Enir-Ilim Altar Scadutree Fragment
From the Spiral Rise Site of Grace, head up the stairs and head out onto the rooftops, past the Gravebirds and Inquisitors, until you reach another set of cloth-laden rooftops guarded by a horned warrior. Rather than rushing toward the enemy headlong, turn around and look inside the small room with a loot item in front of an altar. That’s your final Scadutree Fragment.
And with that, you’ve collected every Scadutree Fragment in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. Now, you can take the time to check out our Elden Ring guides hub for more on the game and the DLC.
