You must get Fertilizer in Fallout 76 to craft chemicals and explosives, plant vegetables and fruit, and complete timed challenges. However, recent updates to the game have changed the best ways to farm fertilizer. Here’s how to scrap junk to produce fertilizer in Fallout 76, plus additional ways to obtain fertilizer.
Where to Get Fertilizer in Fallout 76
The best place to find Fertilizer in Fallout 76 is the Vault-Tec Agricultural Research Center. First, you’ll want to look inside the greenhouses as you will find green fertilizer storage bins. You’ll need bobby pins to unlock them, but they will give you anywhere from 2 to 7 stacks of fertilizer for your trouble.
In addition, you’ll want to complete the Fertile Soil event, as you’ll earn additional fertilizer upon completion. This event is super easy; you’ll only have to complete two objects. The first objective is killing three farmhand supervisors, which you can find on the outside of the building while looting the greenhouse fertilizer storage bins. After that, you’ll need to head to the basement of the building to change the farmhands targeting parameters.
The following table shows additional junk items you can scrap to produce fertilizer and how much they yield.
Junk Item | Fertilizer Yield |
---|---|
Bag of Dogwood Fertilizer | 4 |
Bag of Fertilizer | 4 |
Bulk Fertilizer | 20 |
Radioactive Pumpkin Seeds | 4 |
Raw Fertilizer | 1 |
Straw Pillow | 1 |
How to Craft Fertilizer in Fallout 76
The first step in this process is to collect vegetables from places like the General’s Steakhouse or any of the farms in Appalachia, yielding a large amount of vegetables you will need. However, before you start collecting, equip the Green Thumb perk, as this nets you double the amount of a plant when harvested.
After you collect all the Corn and Razorgrain, you must wait until they spoil in your inventory. Once done, you can convert ten spoiled vegetables into one raw fertilizer using a chemistry station. While this may seem like a lot, you should have collected a ton of vegetables with the Green Thumb perk.
Once you have created raw fertilizer, you can make bulk fertilizer at a tinkerer’s workbench. By creating bulk fertilizer, you can then scrap it, and that will satisfy any timed challenges you may need to finish. You can complete this method with any materials you may have stored previously, making it easy to complete without leaving your C.A.M.P.
