Who here remembers PlayStation Underground? Yeah, fun times right? Well, for those of you too young for that — before the PlayStation Network existed, PlayStation gamers had this little thing called PlayStation Underground. It contained tips, tricks, news, and demo disks all in one convenient magazine.
PlayStation Underground ran from 1997 to 2001, where it merged with the now-defunct Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine which merged into now defunct PlayStation: The Official Magazine.
Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Underground has returned to the throne of PlayStation news, as an online show.
The first episode is above, and features a lengthy playthrough of Harmonix’s upcoming game Amplitude. The three hosts are joined by Nick Chester, Harmonix’s PR man for some four-player action, then have a jolly good time.
See kids? This is what demos used to look like!
On the official PlayStation Blog, they explain further that they are currently planning to release new Underground episodes every other week, and increase that to weekly in the “near future”. They also promise:
“If you tune into Underground in the coming months, expect to see upcoming game previews, and hear insider details from the best and brightest in the gaming community.
Underground is just getting started, so you can expect a few things to change over the coming months as we fall into a rhythm of our own and tidy up the place. But for now, please sit back, fetch a refreshing beverage, and enjoy.
We have a lot more to show you.” –

We wish the team at PlayStation Underground the best of luck, and look forward to seeing the show grow.
