How to Increase Inventory in Fields of Mistria

Let's face it; 10 slots isn't enough space for all these tools. Or bugs. Or fish. Or crops.

Fields of Mistria offers a blushing ’90s anime-inspired spin on the farming and life sim genre, blending new ideas with the old for a captivating new life in the countryside. Like many games of this ilk, the early access title sets you up with a farm and a hotbar consisting of just 10 slots for all your tools and found treasures. Suffice it to say, you run out of room fairly early on in your playthrough. Here’s how to increase your inventory with additional bag slots in Fields of Mistria.

How to Increase Your Inventory in Fields of Mistria

Fields of Mistria offers several inventory upgrades as you make progress in the game. With enough cash, you can easily purchase your first upgrade from the General Store early on; this will set you back 1,000 tesserae and effectively doubles the size of your inventory with the addition of an entire second row of slots. I try to be as frugal as I can be in any farming sim, but this is one early investment I can’t recommend enough. With more space, you’ll save time and trips back to your farm to drop off goods in the shipping bin or storage — and as Balor says, we both know time is money.

Your second inventory upgrade requires a lot more work than the first. In order to add more slots, you’ll first need to repair the General Store as part of a main story quest. Once construction is complete, the second upgrade retails for 2,000 tesserae. This also brings plenty of other new wares to the storefront, including more seasonal crops and crafting materials.

Repairing the General Store

While the first inventory upgrade is available at the General Store from the start of the game, the second comes with the addition of new wares after repairing the shop per Adeline’s request. This is one of the first major story quests after restoring the Mill, calling for a variety of materials in bulk and, of course, a pretty significant sum of tesserae. Repairing the shop isn’t an overnight job; you’ll need to collect each of the following to satisfy the quest requirements.

  • x500 Stone
  • x300 Wood
  • x5 Copper Ingots
  • x5 Iron Ingots
  • x3000 Tesserae

All Bag Upgrades

So far, I’ve managed to get two upgrades to my inventory in Fields of Mistria. I’ll provide more updates here as I breeze through the main story and add new information with each update leading up to the game’s 1.0 launch. For now, here’s what to expect in terms of cost and story progression.
